Proper? Nilsson has been standing on his head. He’s played way above the level he’s displayed in the past. Other than Elias he’s been our best player.
- bloatedmosquito

Baertschi has 2 G 5 pts in 5 games
Bo has 3 G 4 pts in 5
Jake 2 G 3 pts

Other players are playing well also. The team is having a good start.

True, true. But that all would be irrelevant if Nilsson plays his usual game. Like Marky has done. He’s been a pleasant surprise to start the season.

Lucic is having a good start , they will keep him now.

Seriously you don't need a goon. That last 30 seconds of the game the other team has their best players on , a stick across the wrist or hand (not too obvious) taking a player out with a bruised hand for three weeks is much more effective payback.

- VANTEL

I don't think Lucic is a goon. He's a tough hockey player. Goon is like Hordichuk to me. Same as Tom Wilson who is a tough hockey player but also dirty.

Dirty play by a player that was embarrassed. I hope the league at least fine's his the max amount. IMO, i'd set precedent and give him a two game suspension. Play hockey or sit.

If Matheson wants to fight and get it over with next game. Someone fight him. If not dump the puck into his corner every chance you get and (frank)en nail him again and again and again.

It's not a just a question of whether it was a good hit, or a dirty play...teams need to protect their stars, and create space & time for them...and letting the opposition know that there will be a price paid if the stars are touched is a critical part of that.

When Gretzky came into the league, he was physically immature (like EP, though I'm not making that comparison) but if you touched him you had Semenko in your face, Anderson putting a stick in you, or Messier throwing an elbow at your head.

Like a lot of others in this thread, I'm wondering when the "character that was brought in to protect the kids" will show up.

According to nhl.com Pettersson has the same amount of hits as Horvat and Boeser. The top 6 of this team is still not tough. They may have size but they aren't "tough"

Lose for Hughes isn't going to make the top 6 any tougher.

Lol. Again, debating on which pile of poo smells better is not worth the effort.

Let’s just agree that both piles smell bad.

I am coming around on Stecher. I think he is playing responsible D . He is what he is a bottom pair guy but he is reliable.

Hutton I am still looking at.

Pouliot has been horrible and Gudbrandson is right there with him.

If I’m a Canuck player (especially a fringe player) I’m smart enough to know that this Elias kid is going to help get more money in my next contract. Team improves, points go up, players have career years, negotiating a new contract becomes way easier.

It’s just smart to protect your meal ticket.

One of them went down, one just came back from a concussion, the other's invisible.

Hutton is so bad. How can a player have such a decent rookie season and then be absolutely poop after. I don’t get it.

Lucic is slow as hell and very expensive. His contract is a tire fire.

This my tough guy fights your tough guy is stupid. Remember Strecher being beat up by Martin. That is how you send a message.

Canuck fans always want to retaliate. How about instigate instead.

Pouliot is the most skilled of the poopty D. Just too bad he's probably slower then Gudbranson. He has the most hits double anyone else. Reason why I would guess is because he spends most of the time chasing instead of having the puck.

Nilsson got two early shutouts last year and people thought he was the second coming and not the second stringer that he is.

But they still give the best tough guy interviews going.... so the team has that going for it.

Matheson is going to hear some very stern words through the media in the next couple days. That should teach 'em!

Lucic had some very good years on the scoresheet as well. McDavid is just too fast for him. Believe he is now playing with Draisital and as you said he is doing better. A little actual toughness in the top 6 would be good.

100%. Our teams most successful run is when they were bastards to play against. Just about won us a cup playing that way.

At least Gillis saw the need to bring in truculence to protect their stars.
