This blog was a trip down memory lane... Haven't been around in years and can only say JJ usually saw things his way and only his way. Once Eli was given his Barney Fife title it went straight to his head and the bans started to fly. As most bans before that usually involved Canuck fans.

i think everyone in here at that time got banned at least once...i did, and i'm a nice guy...

Not gonna deny that perhaps some of my comments were disrespectful. However even when I tried to debate respectfully, I was banned by Eli who had an axe to grind with a number of us...mostly for starting a new site and not inviting him over, if I had to guess.

Got to the point Eli and Mods started citing some nebulous rule about the "number of bans" (max bans) and my longest was 3 months.

Was always funny to me that the guys being banned were typically more the glass is half full guys where the glass half empty guys seemed to go unpunished for similar infractions...just my observation.

The Canucks / Hawks rivalry was probably my favorite

The new site was the one within Hockeybuzz. JJ and Barney were steaming about that - relations were a tad sensitive after that....

True. And there is some justification for hurt feelings there. Things spiraled far away from the intentions of that thread.

But. The bans were already happening before it was created. It was the major reason for its creation.

I was banned mostly for disagreeing with the blogger. Respectfully, btw. Posting a laughie. Mostly for saying the same things other said. And then the ref, Eli, who came to be referred to as Barney Fife for obvious reasons, must have been offended by my avatar and made up some crock about max bans reached. I never called anyone names except for TrueGrit and that was just once. That was the only ban I received that was justified.

Which, btw, isn't true. So, the night the Hawks won the Cup in 15, I launched my new avi.

Eli was such a joke that at one point, most of us had avis with the characters from the Andy Griffith show.

I had an issue with Eli which he wouldn't let go of. I heard he had some personal problems with a few bloggers and that may have been one reason he no longer choose to be a referee. The referee position was a nice accomplishment on a resume for him and since he graduated college he may not longer want to take on a referee position . I did appreciate his Rockford player evaluations

Speaking about Rockford player evaluations, I will make a segway now and ask if anyone can provide a review of Tuulola and how far from NHL able might he be.

He did. Pretty sure any bans he received were purely personal. He has never disagreed with anyone. In, fact, he rarely quotes another's comment.

Technically, no. There have been lifetime bans handed out to posters of other teams. And 3 years ties me with the longest

This is the most fun hockeybuzz has been in a long time. I am enjoying the highschool reunion vibe going on tonight and hope this isn't just a one night stand. Hope you all decide to stay around awhile.
I do not post much but am always here just looking for a distraction from real life and a good laugh.

oh yeah...when that ended that's how i ended up here...

Put my vote down that JJ was a putz sometimes - not always, but every now and then his skin got a little thin and some of the regulars would enjoy taking him to task which usually escalated the putz factor rather quickly - especially with some of the "usual suspects". I never had a problem a problem with JJ but then I never got into with him, mainly because there were no shortage of guys willing and able to do so.
