I don't think it has to be one extreme or the other. I think people are jumping to one side or the other, strictly because it feels like the Canucks GM/coach/players almost left it in the hands of the league, rather than do something themselves, but this stuff happens more often than people think. Gudbranson fought Martin after he went after Stecher the next game. Gudbranson fought Hendricks when Hendricks knocked out Ekblad. Mathesons only fight, which is super ironic, was an immediate fight with David Backes after Backes did a dirty hit on Trochek. I think the players can police themselves, the Canucks just didn't do it. Leaving it to the league to handle and using "we wanted to keep our composure and take the 2 points" was an awful excuse for how they handled it, IMO.

Funny story.......back in the 80's my family was visiting my uncle/cousins in Kamloops for Christmas.

My cousin was good friends with Daryl Sydor, Paul Kruse and a guy named Ed Bertuzzi. We went to a Blazers/Spokane Chiefs game one night.

Corey Hirsch was in net for Kamloops and Troy Gamble for Spokane.

A line brawl broke out....Bertuzzi and Sydor were on the ice and my cousin was losing her poop. Sydor was getting destroyed by some guy.

Refs broke them up and the guy turns around so that I can see who he is.........

I think everyone is jumping on the media sky-is-falling train – everything that people here hate on writers for. There is a lot of information out there saying its case-by-case, and as long as the concussion isn't bad/there are minimal symptoms it's not unsafe to fly. Could he have stayed an extra day or two? Sure, but I'd think that the doctors they have are qualified enough (especially after the Demko story) to assess the situation and make the correct call.
