It is, you are right it's hard to draw the line where personnal liberties should stop. I just don't think this was a need for our society and how we should progress.

Saving millions a year in court time with cases of grown adults being arrested with a half ounce of Cannabis... This needed to change, marijuana use should not be criminal

Well there were only really two choices.

Keep the thing illegal, leaving the black market reap all the benefits while everyone that actually wants to smoke can still easily get their hands on it while smoking stuff we have no quality control over.

Or

Legalize it, have the state tax and profit off of it, make sure the product if of quality and, despite a preditable small raise in comsumption early on, realize that everyone that wanted to smoke already did and don't notice any difference in most people's habits. Also saves millions of dollars in police work trying to prevent something they simply won't win over.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

I agree that money wise this is a great decision but not every decision should be based only on the financials but also what we want to strive for.

Well sure, ideally you'd want a society that doesn't touch the stuff, takes care of their health, are nice to each other, doesn't pollute, etc...

But until people are ready for such changes, the decision makes sense imo.

P.S. Pacioretty with another horrible game yesterday.

I don't think a society would or should strive for less because of marijuana's legalization.

Cannabis slows down cancerous cells, its been proven to help with eyesight, it's a pain reliever and much more... So the unhealthy part of the conversation is a little confusing to me!

PS hopefully Tatar has another great one tonight!

It also been proven to increases the risks of mental illness.

And for all the reasons you mentionned I was fine with it when it was legal for medical uses.

If you put tabacco in it, it's horrible for your lungs... You are right though, inhaling any kind of smoke can't be good but nobody said you had to smoke it

Indeed. But it's the most common way people use it.

And there's also the whole things it can do to a developing brain.... it might not be the most dangerous product but claiming it's completely harmless isn't right either.

Are edibles legal in Canada as of today? I think I've heard this would only come later

That's why there's an age restriction... And of course it's not completely harmless, neither is driving, working, relationships, eating certain foods and so on... But at some point we should have the right to decide if the "risk" is worth taking for you... The death toll from Cannabis is extremely low!

My secretary isn't here today. She took a personal day off.

I called her while looking for a file I need.

She's outside Ste-Catherine street, trying to buy weed.

God dammit.
