yes agree, certain faceoffs are crucial. but the majority are inconsequential really. so a team's FO% is completely irrelevant. you can be a lousy faceoff team in general but if you have one super reliable guy to take most of your key draws, who cares - DoubleDown
I wouldn't say completely irrelevant since starting with the cup rather than chasing it is obviously better.
But I agree it's an overrated stat over the course of a game. I'm not too worried about it. |

This is where a guy like Plekanec can still be useful... - Pat1993

Would nice that one of the guy who plays on the PP to be decent at well. Losing a faceoff usually results in an easy clearing and they have to enter zone and set up the powerplay all over again. |

That's exactly why Shaw was on the powerplay actually.
To take the faceoffs while not being completely useless.

The faceoffs, as bad as its been, is the least of the problems on the PP |

Good point, he can do his job in front of the net getting goals disallowed after.
That wasn't a pun directed at Shaw by the way, when he's in the lineup he's good. |

Weber will help that... If the Habs are still in this position and playing the way they are when he's set to come back, things may get interesting |
|

Wasn't he our first line center at one point last year? - MortChicken
I think at some point, the whole roster had a shot at that position! |

He's "bullish" on him Was on Ottawa radio talking about him being a steal of a player. - AdamFrench
Yeah, for a team looking to regress in scoring and head straight to the lottery! |

Yeah they have no threat from the point, only thing they can do from there right now is a muffin from Petry that Gallagher can try to tip in, if it gets there. |

And with the Weber threat on the PP it will open up time and space for players like Drouin, Domi and Tatar down low |

They will have to extend the box to keep a guy closer to him, should open up some prime real estate. As it is right now they are getting boxed out. |

Just keep Gallagher away from the front of the net... Sacrifice Shaw's hands on the PP |
