First, Nylander isn't great, he has potential. Potential and a $1.53 gets me a small coffee.
Second, the Leafs aren't going to take a bunch of Hawk retreads, never have beens and never will be's, they'll want at the very least a top end prospect or two or a young roster player in return.
Third, allegedly Nylander wants $8M a season. If the hawks give him that that how will they afford ADB and Schmaltz who may be better players?
The Hawks don't want Nylander for the same reason the Leafs are reluctant to pay him what he's demanding. - paulr
Nylander wants $8M per because his agent compares his numbers to Leon Draisatl's.
His agent is Lew Gross, the same guy who shanghaied Stanbo over Saad that resulted in the trade for AA.
The Leafs won't pay him anywhere near $8M and actually should refuse to him anywhere near David Pastrnak's numbers as a comparable.
And most importantly, Babcock has decided that Nylander cannot play center at a top end NHL level so he is a winger going forward.

No gimmick hockey in the playoffs, so OTWs mean very little. In fact it only proves this is not a respectable 5 on 5 team.
Additionally, it is NOT exciting hockey to watch - it is sloppy hockey to watch. Anyone who thinks this team is playoff bound, let alone able to make a run is pretty delusional.
This team should not entertain any thoughts of "squeaking into the playoffs". They are not deep enough, they aren't adding any top NHL talent, and their young prospects aren't suddenly going to morph into top tier talent in season.
8 and 20 are train wrecks, and the bottom six is offensively impotent. The PP and PK are terrible.
Don't ruin chances to draft high next summer. Just get a lottery pick next season, keep culling the heard of rookies and focus on who may be keepers. |

There’s a couple of YouTube videos about corporate logos with hidden stuff in them. Don’t have the link but found the videos interesting. Company’s spend a fortune getting the logos designed for their needs and many have the hidden meanings. Amazon has the “smile” connecting A to Z to emphasize their extensive product line. - Spec41971

I would call 2 60+ seasons more than potential. IF, and its a huge if, the Leafs were to move Nylander, it will be for a Top 4 D-man. They sure don't need any centers. Some of the issue could be that Nylander wants to play center but there is no room at the inn for him in that position. |

Nylander's numbers compare quite well with Pasternak's. Thought I read.heard that is who the Leafs are using as a comparable. Be pretty hard to play him at center with Tavares, MAtthews and Kadri. Playing him as 4th line center would be a waste. |

Then the scoreboard shows they have 8 out of a possible 10 points. Maybe 80% of the points isn't good in your world. IDK.
It also shows the Hawks are dominating 5 on 5 scoring but you keep doing you. |

I wonder if Saad has been playing hurt and finally now they are shutting him down for a bit. Kinda like Toews last couple years with nagging injuries. Either way some time off for Saad better reengage or re-energize him. |

I could be wrong, but I think if that were the case, he probably wouldn't be at practice. I mean, I think this is a "get your @$$ in gear" move. I just think if it was a nagging injury, he'd be resting it. |

Do you think Nylander's numbers have anything to do with Auston Matthews - I sure do.
The Leafs will pay him somewhere near Pastrnak provided he's in for a 6-8 year term. But he wants $8M for that duration.
And the Leafs have a looming cap problem - Matthews is going to get $12M minimum, Marner will get $9-$10M and Tavares is already in at $11M so they can't overspend on Nylander. |

He would look great opposite Kane, but at $8 mill, no thanks, but for 5 or 6 and trade Schmaltz that'll work

That is a false equivalency, Rick. By the same token, Matthews numbers have something to do with Nylander. Nylander is a talented player. Giving Marner 9-10M would be overspending on him. (frank) them, tho. |

Not this year they don't, Matthews already has 10 goals and Nylander is sitting on his ass in Sweden in his father's basement feeling sorry for himself like Jonathan Drouin did last year.
Nylander is very talented, its just a question of what he is worth and how the team manages their cap after this year.

Just watch, there will be some kind of exception to the CBA this summer to help them...... |
