The Pens have 7 NHL capable d-men right now and the season is only 4 games old for them. I dont see them making any moves about the defense at all.
Man, Im so thankful they signed Rikky. If one more guy goes down they'd really be hurting. |

I believe the NHL made the right call in suspending him and giving him five and a game. I think that if things were called correctly and consistently you would see last if the douche baggery. I would have preferred that the Penguins made them pay on the ensuing 5 minute major and won the game and made Philly pay in that sense over someone going and fighting a useless goon. - j.boyd919
So they score a goal (or two) and win the game and then...what? I mean, it's not gonna change the fact that Letang is hurt (as RW loves to tell people), but the active retaliation is what can prevent it in the future.
And who said anything about fighting Rinaldo? He was gone. The whole team should have come out running Giroux as hard (and relatively cleanly) as possible. You don't fight the goon to make him pay, you hurt the goon's best teammate. |

I don’t believe retaliation prevents anything in the future. Rinaldo is still gonna rinaldo. He doesn’t give a poop. Same with any other scumbag.

Wow, sucks for Shultz, but as others have said could've been worse. Fractured leg, better than ligament or tendon damage. Depending on how it heels he may be back sooner hopefully.
All you fans of Ruhwedel can get excited now. |

How can you say Rinaldo won't change? You said earlier, "Or the refs call a penalty because it is a penalty and players learn and don’t do stupid poop like that."
Obviously, penalties and suspensions don't stop some players (we'll see with Wilson) so I think different motivation tactics are called for in some cases...like Rinaldo.
Maybe if Rinaldo has to visit Giroux in the hospital because of something he did, he thinks twice about it next time. |

I think that is what would exact the best 'retribution', & it would force the NHL into stopping most of the cheap poop as they wouldn't want their stars injured through retaliation attacks - or would they give a poop? The retaliation would probably get a bigger suspension than the intitial cheap shot because we all know the initial cheap shop wasn't intentional, right?
Should Matheson get 5-10 games for his hit on Petterson? |

I think he’ll still be a scumbag in different ways. But specifically for “finishing your check” behind the play. Those are unnecessary hits. If more of those got called, I would think the majority of those players are going to get the picture. Just lift the Cornerbacks and safeties in the nfl. You make a rule change and most of them adhere to it. There isn’t as many hits to the hit or defenseless receiver hits. So If you take away pointless hits and penalize teams then the majority of players will learn. And then if guys like Rinaldo keep taking penalties, it hurts their team, and they’ll essentially be out of a job. |

I believe Matheson should be suspended for that. I feel like the initial hit into the boards was clean and fine but when he threw dude down to the ice and bounced his noggin off the ice that was excessive and didn’t need to happen. He could have just hit him along the boards and moved on. |

Now maybe its just because I am on the super rare occasion, a troll... but anyone who felt for the clickbait title deserves it.
I was guessing he was trading sponsors, or hockey sticks... something like that. Found the Kenya story a bit neat. |

You know probably 98 percent of the players on the Pens bench wouldn’t mind, if not love to see a guy in their room that isn’t afraid to fight. Crosby and Malkin Letang Love it. Kessel is the last penguin to actually try and fight someone. Having that aggression in your lineup is a good thing. Steve Downie was a well documented favorite in the room. None of the players minded a penalty hear and there. It keeps the blood flowing. A lot of players look like they are just clocking into work on this team. BORING. |
