U responded to my post first,
not the other way around

Idk why you’d be happy with watching our supposed “franchise QB” struggle so much week in & week out?

It would be one thing if we could see him improving from week to week
Just hasn’t happened though

And if u don’t wanna talk about it,
that’s fine
But it doesn’t change the OBVIOUS reality of the situation

It's a myth and has been for a long time. The players that have succeeded from sitting learned from established veterans who had a track record of winning football games.

It's much more likely that we are not seeing progression from him because he simply isn't that good of a quarterback.

hire an offensive minded head coach

or a coach that will let the offensive coach let it fly

we should have hired rex ryan's bum friend to be our head coach, chargers are fun to watch

So what it sounds like you’re saying is that a young QB can ONLY learn on the sidelines if there’s an “established veteran” playing ahead of him

I couldn’t disagree more
Players do the bulk of their learning on M-F (so to speak) in the film room & on the practice field
They get “coached” by their coaches

Would it be helpful if we had a good QB in front of Allen?
Sure
But i also don’t think it’s necessary

We can keep doing it this way,
and we will EVENTUALLY see if Allen has it or not
But i still think we’d be seeing better results if he was better prepared
And that takes time

The same place as if they play him (healthy)...nowhere. Allen isn't being helped or hindered right now. He's still the best quarterback on this roster. By how much is up for debate. If he ultimately fails, it won't be because he didn't sit this year.

Yes, I am saying exactly that. You don't learn rather than experience by watching ineptitude...in any profession in life.

Obviously we need offensive help...
but picking top10, maybe top5, i don’t think I’d go with a WR or OL there

Maybe trade down?
But our defense does need a pass rusher like Mack, Watt, etc

Landry got traded for a 2nd
Gordon for a 5th
WRs can be had all sorts of ways besides picking one in the top10
And the last time we did that, it didn’t work out so well
Also don’t need to draft OL that high

But yes...
the offense absolutely must be addressed

Again,
The bulk of the “learning” is done in the film room & the practice field
That’s what coaches are for

U seem to be completely ignoring that

Well maybe u should go back & rewatch the games
Bc there’s been many times where he has had time, & just can’t find anyone down field- even when there’s open WRs
Seems to me,
that the logical explanation is that he’s having trouble deciphering the coverages & figuring out where the open guys will be

And yes,
I do think more studying in the film room & practice will help get him better prepared for live game action

I don’t think that’s a very revolutionary idea

- jdfitz77

Not the last 2 games when his yards dipped massively, and I don't think there's a single person who's saying study and practice won't help him get better.

Against the Titans they ran the ball 39 times, not counting Allen's 4, so let's say those were passes and he tucked and ran. And let's add those 4 to Allen's 19 PA, you're still running the ball way more than you're passing it and that's unheard of in the NFL today. 59-41% should be pass to run, not run to pass. Some teams barely get to half the amount of rushes to passes.
