This has been a soft team for years . They are harder to play against now but I thought we all agreed in the summer they didn't add a true fighter. I think most in here were dead against Reeves.

I have given up on Guddy trying to be an enforcer. Jake is not a deterrent. I honestly don't have a solution.

If you let what happened to EP go without even a scrum, you're not. You're soft as (frank) still.

Gudbranson sucks. Jake hates physical contact. Roussell, fine yeah but maybe a guy with a concussion history shouldn't be one of your "toughness" solutions. Part of the selling point on Beagle by the media was "He can stick up for his teammates when he needs to. Such a leader!"

Horvat wants to be captain. He could have finished a check twice on the forecheck on Matheson but he pulled at the last second the chute like it was Fortnite.

Guys like Horvat, Boeser, etc. the stars have to set the tone too.

I will be honest when I seen the play at full speed I didn't think much of it. It was not until it was slowed down and went over and over that I thought okay that is excessive. I think most players on team were asking what happened?

As the weekend went on the media and fan rage has escalated . He is going to get banged a lot playing this game and the team needs to decide do they want a goon to ride shotgun or a skilled scorer?

it stems from where we get our grit and toughness. We try and acquire it through free agency, and it has never really worked prior. You can have grit and toughness, and still have those players be skilled, but you generally don't find it through players who teams have given up to free agency, but rather you draft or acquire via trade. Despite not fighting, Virtanen has shown glimpses of having both skillsets, and I think we all hope, that if he turns into a lite version of any of the players below, we will have gotten a good one.

Benn, Simmonds, Wheeler, Marchand to name a few, all players who I would think embody the speed+skill and toughness in them. These are players that don't fall to free agency, these are valuable players who are either drafted or acquired. We will never get the same product/result from a free agent signing.

It has to be a team attitude where everyone sticks up for each other regardless of who they are. That's where it has to start. That doesn't mean Boeser has to fight. I'm not sure either, but my point is more that ANYONE could have done ANYTHING. Instead the entire team did nothing. Basically the team's response to getting bullied was to piss their pants instead of even trying to swing back.

Why is everybody so worked up. Geezus Christ. It's not like he was head hunted. He got tossed to the ground. If he bounces back up, nobody even cares. Instead he hits his head on the ice and everyone want to kill Matheson. It was a bit aggressive, but if a 2 min roughing penalty was called then there isn't even a phone call. Should someone have stepped up and challenged Matheson, probably. I'm sure Travis Hamonic now strikes fear in to the rest of the league after getting his face broken for doing the same thing. Petterson is small, this isn't the last time he's gonna get creamed. Bulk up, keep your head up and yes, win the goddamn game first. Exact revenge if the opportunity presents.

The players and coaches have tablets on the bench with live, adjustable game feeds to watch near up to the minute shifts. There are video coaches up top with a stack of monitors. Missed it at ice level? Fine.

This whole thing about "we didn't know it was dirty until after the game" is a (frank)ing lie and just doing PR because they're tired of getting roasted across the sport.
