Erik Johnson had the only penalty in that scrum, and worst case is that they are offsetting.

I’ve seen the Flyers ramp up their physicality during games like that. Even skill guys like Giroux and Voracek start throwing hits, battling harder in the corners, looking for an excuse to start a scrum after a whistle. Including Del Zotto when he played there.

Clean or not, letting guys take runs at your stars has to draw some response. EP was doing gymnastics to avoid guys taking big runs at him for 5 games and at no point did a player grab one of those scrubs and give them grief.

eventually a guy caught EP and look what happened.

It’s not a court of law. They don’t need to review forensic evidence to conclude “Yup, it was a bad throw down. Let’s go get him.”

you aren't being paid to play hockey with your team mates, rooming with them for 40 + games a year for them either, and generally speaking, in beer league, probably not needed to stand up for them in what most leagues are deemed "non contact" either. But I agree, team mates are team mates.

its more that i STILL have a strong bond the guys that were willing to get bloody for me and for the team versus the guys I just hang out with
