Why does Benning play in the NHL? Because, when slotted correctly, he outproduces his opposition (iirc). His weaknesses and shortcomings are being exacerbated by not playing in his proper role- a problem the Oil have had for years.
They set their players up to fail and then get rid of them for nothing despite having value in an appropriate role. See Petry and Schultz for examples of that. - MaximumBone
On most teams Sekera being out the better part of two years can be handled by team depth.... except in our case where we have zero depth. |

We're talking about a guy that was our 2nd or 3rd best Dman going down for 2 years (he wasn't himself for those 36 games). I think our team will be at that point within a year and a bit as Bouchard, Bear and Jones start taking spots for themselves but we're just seeing the byproduct of trading all the picks we did between 2014 and 2015. |

That's what I'm saying... if we have Sekera it pushes guys like Benning back into a position he should be in. |

Given the choice between playing Bouchard or Bear as of now, who would you pick? |

Send Bouchard back to junior and give Bear the minutes. |

Where's Rutts - Reveen.
He's at home on his computer and Leon is away from home on his cell phone. It's just easier that way. Plus makes for better entertainment because that bonehead T2P actually thinks they are 2 different people |

Bear. Bouchard can go back and dominate the OHL, improve his defense and then come back next year. I'd actually prefer to give him about 10 games in the AHL to get his confidence up (and hopefully wait until Todd is fired). |

I think Chiarelli has to go first and let the new GM axe Todd |

Except it rarely goes like that. Usually the coach goes as a last ditch effort to turn things around and save the GMs job. If results remain poor, then the GM is gone at season's end.
As much as I'd prefer they both be gone in one fell swoop, I'll bank on the usual rearranging of the deck chairs to take place first. |

Calling a hefty loss tonight where the Jets' big weapons get themselves going at 5-on-5 and the PK struggles against a dominant PP. Then nothing changes because Todd is stubborn. |

During post game Todd says something along the lines of: "we're doing all the small things right, sometimes you just have to wait for the bounces to start going your way."
No you dont. Sometimes you need to earn the bounces and work for them. This is a professional sports league. Bounces dont just happen to those that wait. |

I’m predicting a 7-5 Oil win.
Laine with a PP hat trick.
Puljujarvi with a 5 point night.
Nurse 2 assists.
Morrisey with a goal and an assist.
McDavid goes -4. |
