I've been around weed for most of my life, and as an avid coffee fan, I judge caffeine to be more addictive than cannabis.

I've seen (and experienced) many people that desperately needed a coffee. I don't think I`ve ever seen someone that HAD to have a joint. I know I can easily go months without any and it doesn't bother me one bit.

Why do people continue smoking weed if it isn't addictive? The same reason people continue to do anything else, like eat cheese, or play video games, because they enjoy it.

Scientific studies have shown that it depends on the person and their situation. Some people are biologically prone to have a more addictive response to some substances over others. I know people as you do that literally lose it if they can’t get Feiffer three times a day. I’ve also known a person that once he starting smoking marijuana, that’s all he did. Alcohol is like this as well. Personally, I don’t think allowing marijuana for athletes is a bad thing. It may help several of them and they will have to learn whether or not they can handle it.

The analogy I always use is as follows...

A drunk person behind the wheel has no idea where they are and drives the wrong way on the interstate

A stoned person knows exactly where there are, they just drive slower getting to final destination

Preferably neither has a steering wheel in their hand. If it happens I'd much rather have the weed guy on the road.

Cocaine, heroin and meth can kill someone, not sure the government's mandate is to enable someones suicide

What about alcohol? It kills people all the time from primary(acute poisoning) and secondary effects(cirrhosis, varices). Not to mention all the car accidents.

No, they don't.

Impaired is impaired.

While comparing drunk drivers to high drivers is apples and oranges, neither should be done.

According to MADD, 26.9% of deaths occured in crashes from people on drugs ( another 15% with people on drugs and alcohol).

Of those on drugs alone, almost half were from cannabis.
