It was a test of faith, for me, when Herschel died. There was just way too many fillers. It was a waste of my time. I had way too many other shows going on plus school. I liked Neegan. - I Am The Breadman

Dylan Sikura likely needs more time in Rockford, I read some stat the other week that said 80% of everyday NHL players spend at least half a season in the AHL. The 20% obviously being top draft picks, late start Euro/KHL players. So Sikura likely isn't an exception, he needs probably needs more time playing against men and learning the pro game.
Tyler Sikura will never be an NHL player. He has been an AHL ECHL tweener his entire career, and that's after 4 years at college. We signed him to entice his brother to not walk.
Highmore didn't look like a great option last year, he's ok at everything but probably isn't talented enough to cut it in the NHL. I'd give Fortin and Hayden another game, Fortin's speed makes defenses rush back, even if he can't finish. |

Antti Raanta has now allowed 3 or fewer goals in 16 consecutive starts with COYOTES dating back to FEB 24, 2018, posting an NHL leading 1.56 GAA, .947 SV% in that span. |

But that wasn't good enough for Q. Or for Blowman. Mainly on Q.
I was wondering if Raanta might be the 2nd time we let/shipped off a talented G.
Will it last?

Thanks. I know you weren't the one that originally advocated for him asking for a trade, but it just irks me when people suggest that the hawks should entertain trading our best players away. Do they really think that is going to create a contending team??
And, yes, Kane, Toews, Keith, and Crawford are still our best players, and still elite level. - ToewsdNKanefusd
Not sure who was "advocating" but Stan hasn't created a
'contending' team either

The potential benefits of the Hartman trade won't be realized until Beaudin makes the team (or not). This deal still has the potential to work out well, just like when (fan favourite) Andrew Shaw was dealt for picks and one turned into DeBrincat.
Nobody was mourning the loss of Duclair and there wasn't a made rush from the other GMs to sign him either.
Hinostroza's stats look good because of his strong game last night. He had 1 assist in his first 5 games.
That being said...
AA needs to pick up his game and probably will. 20-20 is realistic.
Kunitz needs to be the 13th forward.
I'm all for giving Hayden a shot, but he's never really impressed me. He had a solid camp but he hasn't impressed since. - DarthKane
Agree the stat's are made in a small time frame
but they all are bringing something to the table,
AA will produce if given a little more help, he could
be helped by having a tablesetter maybe a Fortin/Sikura
Highmore, and Kunitz if he were anyone else the ECHL
would be awaiting and that is what has to sting being
a Saad/Fortin/Hartman/Ducliar etc.etc. playing for the
Hawks.
And yes no one is owed anything

I like Fortin. The dude can fly and will be able to create space as he becomes more confident. Also, he was camping out all night in front of the net when the hawks had the puck. I would much rather watch him play than Chris kunitz. Also, if people wanna dog on Fortin for not putting the puck in the net when he has had the chance, at least give him more time. Hes been in great position a lot in two games. He will eventually start finding the net. I actually really liked him with schmaltz and kane last night. - frafra

In analysing Fortin need to look at 4 goals in 53 games in AHL last year and a benching for the play-offs by Colliton. He also did not light up the Q in Canada. So if he seems to struggle finishing it has been an issue for a while. It is true that certain unique players succeed more the higher they go - let’s hope Fortin falls in this category. However, thought his call-up was a bit surprising based on 4 total AHL goals. |

That's right... because the guy who replaced Raanta as the back-up absolutely horrendous.

Raanta is a good goalie, but at the time starting (and ultimately keeping) Darling was the right move. |

Highmore did more in Rockford last year than Fortin did. I'd argue Highmore should have been the first Ice Hog to get the call.
Fortin is not more a top 6 forward in the NHL than Highmore or Sikura. |

thats impressive...even more so is that he is not by any means the prototypical "large man" goalie so much part of the NHL game today.
like him when was with the hawks...
on the other hand our goalies have allowed 3 or more in 6 strt to start the season and they ain't all on the goalie...this team still has no structure to their defensive game and they give away the puck way to often...
for the only bight spots of this year:
1. Craws return
2. Toews play
3. Jokiharu is going to be a big time d man
Can't expect toews, kane and cat to score at a 100 point plus season rate...
a few somebody elses need to get errr going. |

I know for a fact there is not.
Don't you think if there was - and it had been going on for years - that something would have been done by now - one way or the other????
Seriously, you people need to stop creating false narratives and believing they are true. It is entertaining - I will give you that. - dahawks8819
You know for a “fact”? Please. So your argument is this - if there was a problem it would’ve been addressed by now. Now that’s entertainment and pretzel logic. So you are saying all poor relationships get addressed early on in a timely fashion. Not in the real world they don’t. Many posters on here agree Q is especially harsh on players Bowman has obtained. You seem to be unable to accept that Q’s treatment of players like Daley and Murphy points to a disconnect. I suppose when Q angrily stormed out of the hockey meeting when he found out Hammer was traded is somehow evidence for you that Bowman and Q are on the same page.

True... but Sikura lasted longer in training camp than Fortin (and Highmore). I'd be curious to know why the team chose Fortin given that Sikura lasted longer in camp and Highmore has done more in Rockford. I'm sure his speed has something to do with it, but as we know speed along isn't enough. |

You mentioned Cat, but add him to your “bight sports” - apparently, a truly proven scorer and no sophomore slump. Even in last night’s problem effort he got to position and got off good shots a couple of times.

Maybe (MAYBE, with no authoritive information) they thought Sikura could benefit from more Rockfish time.
This is not (or should not be) just a “this year” proposition - need to look down the road. |
