I’d suggest we skip the celebratory goalie helmet bump if Crow brings us a win tonight. - walleyeb1
Hahaha! Just rush him to the dark room if we win. Don't risk anything! He's got to do it again real soon after tonight. |

Saad has 455 regular season NHL games
125 goals in those games
.2747252 goals per game
That's 22.5 goals in a 82 game season
If you include playoffs, 141 goals in 527 games, .267552 per game, for an average of 21.9 per 82 games.
He scored 31 goals once. His next highest total was 23.
Going by the numbers, he is most likely to score 21-22 goals during an 82 game season. And if I were wagering on it, I'd bet he never breaks 30 again. - scottak
Seems to me we should be looking at his productivity AFTER he gained some experience and maturity - like 2014/15-2016/17 - two with CBJ and one here.
242 games, 78 goals (23+31+24) = 26 over 82 games (and he’s only missed 8 games in his career).
And 50+ points in each of those seasons.
I would say his “normal” (if he can get back to it) would be 25+28=53 or thereabouts.

Don't make an innuendo or anything dirty, but this game could like the family guy star wars where the big camel machine whacks it's toe on a rock and trips, holding it's knee. Is there a gif of that ... anyone see that? - I Am The Breadman

5-2 Coyotes . - eagle50
Nickmo2699 has it 5-2 Hawks.
Eagle50 has it 5-2 Coyotes.
So it will probably end 7-7 in regulation. Hawks in IT unless Coyotes get the first shot. |

Lol 20 goals and 50 points is a 6 million dollar player in the NHL especially when you consider that he kills penalties and plays in 3 zones.
Brandon Saad isn't a huge problem right now and for the most part if he hits a lul he bounces back fairly well.
The first defensive pairing being the only one that can consistently advance the puck out of their own zone is a much larger cause for concern. - fattybeef

This is such a huge game tonight.
How the Hawks fair this season has so much vested in tonight's action.

Was this Saad drama really necessary? Was Saad playing so poorly in comparison to others that it necessitated disrupting the team like this? I have always been critical of Q’s “tough love” as it is is wildly inconsistent. Schmaltz has played with Kane all season - ZERO goals, same as Saad. Kahun has played with Toews and Cat all season - ONE goal. Kunitz - ZERO goals. Kampf - ZERO goals. Anisimov - ONE goal. No doghouse for any of them. Murphy, Kempny, Daley and others have stated how hard it is to play being afraid to make a mistake. Robs a player of his confidence. It is not a question of committment as Saad worked very, very hard this off-season. Was embarrasing and disrespecting Saad the best approach? If he is playing without confidence is it helpful to take steps to erode his confidence more? It can’t be about his contract either - otherwise Toews and Keith should have spent all of last year in the doghouse. For Saad $6M was offered $6M was accepted - just like Toews with his $10.5. |

I would venture a guess to say that Q saw something other than points in Saad’s game that he really didn’t like. In fact, he has said that a number of times in the past few days. Yes, goals are important, but there are many other things that go into being a good hockey player. I’m not saying he’s infallible, but I’m going to defer to Q on this and say that he isn’t so petty that he would just mess with a guy like that. |

Honestly, my guess would be for Q as a former defenseman, is a lot tougher on defenseman. He's tougher on rookies, they have short leashes, but not like he is with dmen. |

Let's hope 50 is and stays healthy, putting a merciful end to the Ward era.
Ward allowed 21 goals over the first give games with an .879 save %. That's 4.2 goals against per game.
If Crow is simply league average .912, that would imply six fewer goals over that time. Or a more manageable 3.0 goals against per game.
If Crow can return to last year's .929, that would imply nine fewer goals over that time. Or a solid 2.4 goals against per game.

Regarding Forsling, I think the timeline Q gave about a week ago was "a couple/three weeks", so probably early Nov still. I haven't seen anything new.
Been one week practicing with the team, but they have the option of sending him to Rockford without waivers also to get him some game time. - breadbag
Powers just reported that Forsling told him today he's a couple weeks away. Needs to build up strength still.
I've been told all a long that the Hawks planned for Forsling to be on the roster if he didn't get hurt. And that Davidson wouldn't have even been invited to camp if it weren't for the Forsling and Murphy injuries.
My thinking is that Davidson gets at least 1 game in but then lands in Rockford.
Then when Murphy returns, the Hawks make a deal to send Rutta (or Murphy if there is a taker) out in a trade.

Q mess with most players Stan Acquires .Not playing Forsberg for a single game well Crow was hurt ,even well Ward hardly dazzled with a .879 SV % . |

It could be, I'm just saying they have the option of letting Forsling get some game time in the AHL (since he doesn't have to clear waivers) but not sure what they will really do. I really like the Hawks chances if Forsling is finally ready to be an everyday NHL dman. |

Defintely. It would makes sense and maybe he gets some games in Rockford, just relaying on what I heard.
The Hawks were happy with Forsling's progression defensively with Colliton last year and were banking on him to help improve consistency on the backend this year.
He could very well be stuck in the AHL until they make space for him though. |

Jammers key to the game in the pre-game...I have to agree with hoping the team digs in and does what it takes to get a win for Crawford here his return. |

Yes! Also looks like Saad received the message from the coach. The effort looks good here from him and the 4th line. |
