My honest opinion of Dave Hakstol that I’ll never waver on is just how bad a coach he is. After watching the team respond before, during and after having game changers such as Ken Hitchcock and Peter Laviolette, we should all know who will make a difference and who is just drooling into a cup behind the bench. Dave Hakstol is not the guy. I don’t hate Hak like I hate Berube but Hakstol in four seasons hasn’t impacted this team like Lavy or Hitch. Not even close.
Some of you I don’t think are upset enough. This isn’t a bubble team anymore. Climbing uphill, again, in October, should be unacceptable.

Isn't every team climbing uphill in the first month of the season?

Some more than others though. And this one isn't putting themselves in a good place to be in a good place at American Thanksgiving which is a key point in the season when you the standings in most seasons for whether or not the team will make the playoffs. That date can be pointed to as the first measure of a teams playoff hopes.
Didn't really pay attention to much chatter today in the comments but I'd like to say one thing about Provy, on the Giroux turnover if Provy is playing with confidence he gets that puck. Giroux knew he could get there but Provorov didn't think he could, this guy needs to do some deep digging because his play has been piss poor. As crazy as it sounds he might need a game in the press box.

My point is 29 of the 31 teams are within 3 points of a playoff position. It's a little early to be all "trade core members!; fire the coach!" For (frank)'s sake we're not even finished the first month of the season. Also weren't the Flyers in last place around Christmas last season?
I'll try any food once, and usually twice to make sure. I love eating new "weird" food - Giroux_Is_God
I don't have a completely open mind - brains, eyes, goat head stuff, etc., are non-starters. But will try a lot of "weird" stuff. I've had bugs and while it gave me the willies at the time, taste wise it wasn't bad and didn't make me sick so that was good. lol

Fact: the Flyers were not in a playoff position at Thanksgiving last year. That said, not being in one at that time usually means you're golfing in mid-April.

I wouldn't say that, what you're saying has the top teams in the division inlcuded. There is always flip flopping in the lower seeding.
On the other hand, someone at work made a Puerto Rican dish: sliced cooking bananas, onions, garlic, butter, and chicken gizzard.
Onions were cooked, the gizzard was cubed then browned, then mixed with everything, had the consistency of an olive almost. It was very interesting.
6.5/10, would eat again, won't beg her to make it again - Giroux_Is_God
Sounds good to me. What'd she do to get gizzard tender? Every chicken gizzard I ever had was tough. You sure it wasn't liver or heart or something softer like that?

You're absolutely correct. I apologize Scoob. I'll be sure to start a "Fire Hakstol" chant tomorrow after the Devils score the first goal and he doesn't make a goalie switch or call a timeout right away!

I know the weren't last year which is why I'm scared if they try that crap again. The odds are against doing it in back to back seasons.
The reason they need to do that is because they don't freaking help when the puck goes the other way. Don't give the forwards a pass for the goals against this team is letting up. They are culpable also. - dragonoffrost
I'm not but if we're just talking offense, they have their work cut out for them.
Yes, but I'm going to arbitrarily remove those games. - jmatchett383
Realistically it's too early in the season to jump to any conclusion on performance.
But for the sake of the argument, I did not remove the games- his points are his points. I just wanted to illuminate inconsistencies in V's scoring so far this season. I am trained to think in distributions/ standard deviations/ outliers etc. Maybe I should not do it here.
