Team defense is garbage. Goaltending has been very poor. Voracek has had more than a few lazy defensive zone games. Giroux has been guilty and Simmonds has had his issues as well.
Folin is not even good as far as 7th defensemen standards go. Manning was better.
It doesn’t help the Provorov hasn’t been playing very good.

I'm not saying he doesn't have things to fix. Everyone on the team could be doing more to be better (except for maybe Gudas). However, Voracek almost single handedly won the game against Ottawa. I don't really think he and the other well known guys necessarily need to lead by example, they just need to play better because they are out there so often.

Yes it is. I also think that a Weise for McDavid deal straight up is tempting as well.

Ottawa is almost in a full blown rebuild. We should be able to beat them in our sleep.

This Flyers haven't had a goaltender in 30 year lazy narrative is getting old.

The biggest problem with the core is that perhaps the most important part of it(Provorov) is struggling to find his game right now. It looks to he coming but hes not up to his standards.
- Baxter27

They definitely miss Provorov's usual solid play, but I think it's just wrong that they put so much on such a young kid.

I agree with I don't need more Folin. But I don't think adding another young defender is the fix. I actually think it's the other way. I think they need a vet guy who can play in your top 3 defense role.

I think you need to break up Gostisbehere and Provorov. I am good with Gostisbehere and Hagg. But i need someone who can play with Provorov and play some heavy minutes.

I would look at defense first. I think a vet guy who can almost take some pressure of your top guys like Provorov and Gostisbehere would be a help. I know we have vets in gudas and MacDonald but someone who can play in your top 4 and probably be on your top pair would be a huge boost and maybe calm some things down.

I wanted Dion Phaneuf last year because I thought he could do that here. Ideally I would like someone to pair with Provorov.

- J35Bacher

Id watch the waiver wire but unless theyre cutting bait with Macdonald or Gudas I dont see them actively pursuing another veteran. The plan is in place with a young core and guys like Myers, Morin and Friedman waiting in the wings.

It sounds Bizarre but it may make sense to split up Ghost and Provorov to give the later a bit of a reset. I wouldnt want to split up Sanheim and Gudas, so that leaves Hagg and Folin as options to pair him with which isnt ideal but maybe worth a shot. Try a 3 balanced pairings approach.

The Wild are a good team every year, but they never really seem threatening, kind of like the entire state of Minnesota. Like, yes, they're good, but there's never any pop to them. You always forget that they even exist until you play against them, then you realize that they're good, and then you forget about them two days later.

Thing is I don't know if he fixes this.

Not saying he isn't more talented. Just not sure he fixes what they need now.

I'm gonna go as AMac. It's easy, you just fall down, let the rest of the trick and treaters go right by you and when someone throws a piece of candy to them, you block it.

Gostisbehere and Hagg played well together last year. I am ok with them going back together. Sanheim and Gudas seem pretty good right now. i need someone who can play with Provorov. I know Myers is talented but I am not sure he should be thrown in to try and be the fix.

In reality, the Flyers are probably only 3 players away from being the best team in the league. Sadly, those players are Mario Lemieux, Ray Bourque and Dominic Hasek.

The really annoying thing is that Hak hasn't implemented a whole new system they are all trying to learn. So there is no excuse for the poor coverage and players looking like they have no idea where they are supposed to be.

What Hak DOES need to nip in the bud immediately is the lack of attention to detail and the poor decision making. Forwards aren't back checking.

As for the poopty goalie play, that is a viscous circle. It seems defense and goaltenders don't trust each other. Goalies because defense is leaving them hanging out to dry too often, and defense because goalies are letting in too many softies and not making any momentum saves.

Add to that how the forwards are not supporting defense.

That is on Hak to make sure the leadership and players start doing what they are supposed to do. Giroux, Simmonds, Amac, cant bench players or take away ice time. And that is what has to happen.

- MBFlyerfan

I do wonder how much the players are behind the coach, or if they tuned him out. Ghost is on record saying something like ‘I don’t care if I get yelled at, I am going to make plays.’

I'm gonna go as Dave Hakstol, but I am going to put my own spin on it like the girls in college do. I am going to be an emotional Dave Hakstol. I am going to yell loudly, stare holes through people, throw stuff, punch somebody in the head, you name it, if it shows anger and emotion, I WILL BE DOING IT

Could very well be their top pairing in a year or two. I would love to be able to move Ghost onto a pair with Hagg and leave Gudas with Sanheim, but AMac, even when healthy, has no business on a top pair.

Young D take time to put it all together, and yeah, it's frustrating. Getting more help and better D play from the forwards would be a big help to the D group and finding a goalie who can stop all the stoppable shots and make a big save or 2 most nights would help even more.

I’m not too familiar with Yog-Sothoth but it sounds cool based on your description.
