One possible change to make once AMac is healthy:

Gudas, by all accounts is playing pretty well. He's not a true top pair guy by any stretch of the imagination, but he may be our best option at this point and playing with a partner who takes less risks and plays a simpler game may help Provorov out.

Once AMac comes back, I'd seriously consider trying:

Provorov-Gudas
Ghost-Hagg
Sanheim-AMac

Gostisbehere and Hagg played well together last year. I am ok with them going back together. Sanheim and Gudas seem pretty good right now. i need someone who can play with Provorov. I know Myers is talented but I am not sure he should be thrown in to try and be the fix.

I only saw Myers 1 game in pre season but it was enough to tell me hes not the answer right now. What Im hearing about his performance with the Phantoms so far this season shows he needs more time. When/if he starts dominating down there, hes ready for his next shot.

They did use Provorov Myers a bit in preseason :D

Exactly what could Hextall have done about the defense or goalie situation? He’s been handicapped by the salary cap situation and it’s taken a while for their prospects to start winding their way up to the big club. He’ll have more cap flexibility next off-season, so I think we can start truly grading him then.

JVR and NP cant play goal but when you have poor Gs like Philly does, you need to control the play. One thing thathelps out poor goalies is puck possession. That is something having skilled guys like NP and JVR would haelp with. Team D has been brutal. Guys are out of position, getting beat easily ect. Yea a goalie should be making these saves but the D should be stopping them from getting a lot of these chances. Its sad that we desperately need Neurvirth back......

I wouldn't throw Myers up to the NHL against the oppositions best, but he is certainly ready for the NHL. They have plenty to fix before then so I'm fine keeping him from this mess, but there's no doubt he is ready.

My comment was more assuming they try to get Provorov going again with less responsibility. I'm not worried about Provorov, just think that him playing better is obviously vital for the team's success. I am happier about Hagg's play, but I have a feeling that will diminish if they give him more responsibility.

Could very well be their top pairing in a year or two. I would love to be able to move Ghost onto a pair with Hagg and leave Gudas with Sanheim, but AMac, even when healthy, has no business on a top pair.

Young D take time to put it all together, and yeah, it's frustrating. Getting more help and better D play from the forwards would be a big help to the D group and finding a goalie who can stop all the stoppable shots and make a big save or 2 most nights would help even more.

I am not a Hakstol hater but maybe that is the move. But i just don't like the options currently on the staff to be an upgrade.

If I'm Hextall right now, I go to practice today and speak bluntly and sternly with the players with no coaches in the room. They need to fix this or there will be changes.

Behind the scenes I call Kimmo about possibly replacing Gord Murphy and I look for someone to replace Lappy.

If this team doesn't start playing as a team in a week. I pull the trigger if the calls yield positive responses to the possible new assistant coaches. I also at this time start fielding calls for anyone not named Provorov on the NHL Roster.

If those changes don't see a change by Thanksgiving I review the offers of the trade calls and pull the trigger on the best deal.

Yes to firing PK staff. No to fielding calls on everyone but Provorov. We just got a bunch of these guys up. Yes if we can lose Folin, Amac and Gudas that would be positive but Trading away Hagg, Sanheim and Ghost aways is just dumb. Let's not pretend that Provorov isnt a big reason why the D is struggling.

OMG. Sounds awesome. I love Mass Effect. One year I went as an N7 holographic repairman. I had my repair kit, and some black jeans with an N7 logo tank top, Shepard's black with red stripe leather jacket. No one got it but I was comfortable and man I loved it.

Edit: and my SR2 hat, how could I forget that?
