Well considering Tavares, Brown, and Leivo all have similar career shooting percentages any of them over Matthews would be best I suppose.
- Feds91Stammer

Yes once each of the sbove mentioned players do get an actual shot on net their chances of scoring is about the same. The difference is players like Tavares and Matthews have the ability to a get more of those chances on net without it being blocked or miss the net. So I would rather have the Brown and Leivo type players having the puck in the high danger scoring areas.

When I look at your blog's comments... I wonder if hardly any of you guys are Leaf's fans

This was the first time he looked to be in his playoff form. Pittsburgh desperately needs this to happen. They are not a good defensive team and their offensive push is not making up the deficit.

OK thanks. What about blocked shots by other team players or by your own teamates?
- MattStrat

Still applies.

Blame UG for that one. If we have to have another argument over backups and 13th forwards we are going to implode.

So missed shots are here then, they'd have to be because the Pens outshot the Leafs by one shot but the Leafs map looks much... Warmer? Haha

So I asked questions about players blocking shots and if it negated scoring chances, you didn't answer and perhaps you're not sure. I honestly have no clue and that's why I'm asking.

So what about missed shots?... If a players is on a HDSC area but misses the net or hits the post (still considered missed net), is it counted as a scoring chance still?

Sorry I fell asleep. Gimme a bit to do some digging haha

#Logic.

Just remember, those forwards over the age of 29 are all useless!

Or is that whole scenario, becuase its the same player in same place with puck in same general area, all considered just 1 HDSC?
- MattStrat

Who knows?

At the same time they all have zero chance of scoring so they are all non factor scoring chances or NFSC. Or NFCSC - 'no (frank)ing chance' scoring chance.

But because of location, some would argue differently.

If he hits the puck, puck his goalie bounces out for rebound, hits puck again, that would be two shots (2 high danger, if he's in the blue per the location chart above) and if he keeps hitting rebounds, each one SHOULD count as a shot.

I hope Feds posts a summary of yester'todays discussion, maybe he can use it as pupile's work/college thesis. And a word about the whereabout of my buddy RafiDRW would also be nice.

So in a discussion about scoring threats - ie yesterday, you would say those count as high danger, but most others would say they weren't a threat as they had very little chance of scoring. See?

I thought the Pens played there best game of the year defensively against a very good opponent. I generally like Gunner's blogs but he is beating a dead horse at times.

I thought Murray played his best game by far. He made a ton of really good saves. Defensively, I thought they did a decent job preventing rebounds/2nd chances, but overall I thought they were average. They lost their man a lot in the slot and there were a number of times the Dmen didn't tie up the guys in front of Murray. I thought Murray bailed them out a bunch. They weren't terrible, I thought they were pretty average and Murray was spectacular.

Yes playing against a team that is averaging over 4 goals a game & keep them to zero was outstanding. To have the opposition coach come out & say his team had no space was an excellent result.

Murray was outstanding, clearly. I thought the defense was good at covering them generally. When they did not, Murray was grand. Whereas lately the D has been out of position more and looking un-cohesive with each other.

Yeah for sure. I didn't think they were terrible. I thought they were okay to good. I was happy with the win regardless.
