Because we have a team of perimeter players who don't know how to make that little extra move before a shot when it's not a toe drag, and when they don't just toe drag it or shoot it into the opposition's feet, they dump pass it or throw it right in their own guy's skates.

I seriously read a comment earlier that blamed the guy receiving the pass, tell me how is anyone supposed to handle a puck that's in their skates?

22nd CF, 18 CA, good for 25th in C+/-, and 25th in CF%. So it seems a higher percentage of opposition shot attempts get through to the goalie. If they're last in shots for and against. 22nd isn't great, but that means few of the Sabres attempts are getting through, or teams below are getting many more through.

Sabres also have 6 posts, good for 2nd most in the league. And a crossbar, which is 3rd most. Yotes and Flyers have 3 crossbars each, they(Sabres) are also 6th in missed shots with 92 which is exactly half of the shots they've attempted. Which is last. Colorado leads with 71% of their shots actually getting through. Blocks aren't included in those numbers for some reason.

Edit: I'm also high as a kite right now, Ambien is kicking in bigly. So if the above doesn't make sense, sorry.

It makes sense but I for one am sick of all the excuses and stats and advanced stats and whatever else.

This team is crap, for whatever reasons and they need to (frank)ing figure it the (frank) out like, a week ago.

This team is treading water in October. They are in okay shape. It's not great, but it's okay.

Skate faster and get the rebound off the boards as it passes behind them to infront of them

Or , just play Dahlin 60 minutes

I would consider an Eichel for Pastrnak type of trade however.

You're correct! My example refers to the consistent bad talent evaluations. I don't mind JBotts as g.m. I like what he's done with roc americans, but, as far as the nhl side, I give him a "D".

*seems*

- MLew65

How the hell do u give botts a “d” he’s done a great job of trying to fix up the crap hole left by tm. Got Skinner for basically nothing, same with Sheary didn’t hand out a stupid long term deal to Sam.
If anyone in this organization is doing his job well it’s JB, also the drafting has looked much better, the pilot signing looks like a solid one as well.

I would venture to say he probably shouldbe Captain in a few years as well.
I say based solely on reports of his drive to be the best and Intensity level.
We shall see

People over reacting much too early, with expectations set waaaay too high.

Yes, they should be a far improved team this season.
It is also realistic to expect it to take longer than 7 games to reveal itself.
IMO, we would give it 20 - 25 games...to the Thanksgiving timeframe.

The Year of Transition should be expected to have many highs and lows as the team adjusts away from 31st finish last season, and heads to a playoff-paced team towards the end of the season...meaning they fall short this season but their pace from say January on would put them in playoff contention if they had that pace all season.

2 points out of a playoff spot. Stay within that range by Thanksgiving, and you're still in decent shape.

That doesn't mean the team gets a pass...just that inconsistency is expected early on.

I will say that Phil needs to manage the roster with a heavy hand and hold players accountable based on production results.

Some Veterans need to have their play time reduced if not performing, this includes a good number of them...Sam, Okposo, Berglund, Risto, Scandella and others...move down the lineup until they reach the press box if necessary.
-that said, some Vets need some time to and coaching as they are on the fringe of breaking through...Skinner, Sheary, Jack
-others just don't fit and should be waived...looking at Larsson

Young players need to be sent down with clear instructions on what they need to work on to improve their game to nhl production standards...Thompson, maybe Mitts but I think he is on the verge of breaking out...so I give him time.

As a Vet sits in the Pressbox...call-up a suitable player from the Amerks to show the threat is real.
