this is incorrect. vegas took on some cast offs but also found a way to exploit teams poor evaluation and un willingness to trade amongst each other. They used that to build a team with strong goaltending and working weak link theory.

They had no elite talent, but on most shifts they never had the worst guy on the ice. Completely unsustainable because only expansion teams get to work from a cap hit of 0 and pick and choose how much money they want to allocate to where, including whatever dead weight they took back.

20% of our cap is tied up on the blue line with guys who can't pass or defend. That takes time to shed.

Friedman (or maybe one of the sportsnet guys cant remember) mentioned that they got to take advantage of a lot of teams not really wanting to make these trades amongst each other and that this second time around with seattle that was very unlikely.

I'm usually not one to be pessimistic at the beginning of the year but did anyone see the (frank)ing line combos Housley put out at practice today? You gotta be (frank)in kidding me!!! Not only does this guy have the worst haircut I've ever seen but this is straight incompetence.
