If Little and Laine don't collide and both go down then that goal you blame solely on Myers doesn't happen. Myers sees them both down and goes to cover the now open man with the puck. Little recovers somewhat as Myers comes within an inch of deflecting the puck out of play. Bottom line is it's an unfortunate series of events after two Jets look out of the play. Had they not gone down it would have never happened.
Was it the perfect split-second decision by Myers . In hindsight ....no because the pass got through. Trouba made countless mistakes in the first but no one says anything.
As for you Stimson analysis on 2017-18 . Myers got stuck with Kulikov and Chariot for most of the season in 17-18. Did you bother to take a gander at the 2017 numbers for Chariot or Morrow or Kulikov or Morrissey or even Enstrom. Myers was better overall than everyone of the them except Buff and Trouba, especially on passing. The explanation for the drop in numbers was who he gets paired with. Glass half full vs glass half empty. Myers is easily our fourth best defenseman but you seem to argue he is our worst. |

Myers probably is our fourth best D right now, but only because Poolman and Niku have not been given the chance to pass him. If Poolman and Niku were both playing right now, of course they would make some mistakes, I highly doubt anymore than Myers. But more importantly, watching them pass Myers on depth chart would prevent any talk of resigning Myers. If Myers signs an extension for anything north of 3 mil per year and 2-3 years it will be Devastating.
I’m sorry, I have nothing against him personally. I’m sure he is a fine fellow. |

Absolutely Benny. If Trouba goes then Myers definitely stays. I would think we will have the answer ( or at least Chevy will) before July 1st when Trouba becomes a FA.
Myers would pair extremely well with Morrissey if that happens.
I was looking at the cap room today. Jets still have $6.5-$7.5 MM still to work with for this year depending on bonuses. They might also save a max of about $400K on having a 22 man roster for half the season. Heck, Ottawa right now is temporarily operating with a 20 man roster. Lots of other teams at 22. Seems to be a trend.
Anyways , as I mentioned before, the #1 target for the Jets should definitely be Eric Staal if Minny falls short. He would be a perfect fit on the 2nd line and Jets would be a much stronger team.
Vesalainen doing well on the Moose with 4 points in two games. Moose unbeaten with Veslainen. He helping Appleton as well. Niku finally better the last two games after being terrible defensively in the first four. |

But that’s the thing, it really shouldn’t!!!
He is a bottom pair D that should not make more than 3 million on his next deal. It shouldn’t matter if Trouba is here or not, Myers is not an answer in our top 4. |

Trouba hasn’t looked that good over the past few games in my opinion. Myers has been a specialist in obtaining penalties at the wrong time. Personally I’d rather see Trouba moved for another young defenceman around the same age and Myers stick around, this could happen next June. I don’t see Trouba sticking around long term.
The coyotes looked quite good with the pressure, I’m surprised they’re showing to be bottom feeders again this year |

This whole debate is just a perfect demonstration of how poor a job Corsi stats do in demonstrating a players value. Enstrom's numbers were pretty bod overall last year, much worse than Myers and he got to play with Buff . Imagine how much worse his numbers would look with the likes of stiffs like Morrow , Chariot , or Kulikov. Just look at the 2016-17 numbers for Myers as a proper top four.
As a coach I could make any one Jet's Dman look really bad in term of Corsi. If I played Trouba with Morrow watch what would happen. His numbers would already drop dramatically , and additionally opposing coaches would then line match their top lines against them during away games and make it even worse. I guarantee it would be a complete reversal of the numbers. Then look at the 5 man units. Myers for example is mostly placed with the Little line who have been very poor defensively ( and offense as well). Change the defensive pairing there and it might be Buff and Chariot taking the heat.

I understand your argument but my opinions of Myers are based entirely off watching him. I am coming around on anylitics and paying attention but will always give more credence to what I see. When I watch Myers I continue to see a player who makes poor decisions in our end. I think he can help on a 2nd pp unit and can be sheltered with more offensive zone starts. I’m not ignorant to the fact he can add some offence but I just can’t stand him in our end.
When talking about him vrs Niku to me they will both struggle in our end this year, probably equally but Niku still has an opportunity at his age to improve and I do think Niku would contribute even more offence than Myers. I understand the team doesn’t want to waive lesser players like Chairot and morrow and this team has always played the guys they are paying. I just don’t agre with it. |

Are you drunk? Enstrom’s defensive numbers were top 5 in the NHL last year, and they’ve been consistently excellent at every stage of his career regardless of partner. |

Niku would absolutely clown Myers at the NHL level already. Even if the defence is identical, Niku has the advantage in vision, skating, and puck handling. I’ll give Myers the strength edge for now, but even then he’s pillowy soft. |

Ross. I like Niku as a tremendous prospect but he is clearly not ready to play on the Jets yet. He has really been struggling defensively on the Moose. The Jets just cannot afford to put him in regular season games that matter yet or to waste his time in the press box. He is much better getting lots of ice time and learning the same Jets system on the Moose and working on being better defensively and being more responsible on his activation on offence. Poolman right now is clearly the better choice right now to promote in case we get some injuries on defense.
The Jets don't exactly need more offence from their defence right now. We seem to have that angle covered. Defensive responsibility seems to be the bigger need and Niku is not close to being there yet. |

This whole idea about being defensively responsible blows my mind. What does that even mean?
Years ago, I remember Bryan Murray signing Sergei Gonchar and letting Anton Volchenkov walk.
Reporters asked him about shot blocking and defensive play, as Volchenkov was a premier shot blocker at the time. Murray's answer was simple, I would rather be the one taking shots than blocking them. Made sense then and it still makes sense now.
If I am to trade Trouba, I want a first line center coming back. I have made this point numerous times on this boards. Since 2005, only the Chicago Blackhawks have won the cup without having two legitimate number 1 centers. We not only need guys that keep the puck in the offensive end, but guys who can capitalize on puck possession.

Ultimate. I do agree with you on needing a top center to finish the puzzle. The Leafs will be the real test case for that theory this year with Matthews and Tavares while lacking the defensive responsibility. They came out of the gate hot but the defensive mistakes are starting to catch up with them. Jets would be better to be like Nashville ( which they are) . A well-balanced attack but with a defense-first attitude with an excellent transition game and ability to capitalize on the opponent's mistakes. The Jet's don't lack firepower but they do seem to lack the chemistry on that second line with Little. Definitely, a guy like Staal would solve that. I also tend to think that it truly is hard to develop chemistry with Laine and Ehlers. Anyways, as the season goes on I would expect it to improve greatly. It might just be a matter of time together.

You gotta work on your reading comprehension. He’s a top 5 DEFENSIVE dman. On the whole, he’s just a solid top 4.

I think you meant to say a second-tier Swedish league on a sub-par team which has not made the playoffs in the last five years. North America's equivalent of Junior B.

And now they’re after first place, with Enstrom rolling a point per game whilst playing higher minutes than anyone in the league |

Maybe they should add Dano and Postma to their rag-tag group of teenagers and has-beens and they might actually make the playoffs this year. I still score three goals a game in Shinny with two former NHL'ers on the ice ....means nothing, its still shinny.
Ooops.....forgot you were on ignore. Back to silence. |

Many teams are struggling to keep the puck out of their net, none and I mean none of them have reached out to Enstrom. If they had, he would have been in the league again this year. |

He’s both A: already playing for his hometown team, and B: already turned down multiple NHL offers to do so |
