as a die hard i want it to be so , but, a smaller d-man as the hope of a snake-bitten franchise, does not get me all excited .
People have to realize with the increased speed and potential for more concussions the NHL can in a heartbeat go back to a more clutching and heavier hockey overnight, and use player safety as the reason, so going heavy on shrimps can come back to bite us - onesmallleap

Big Mac could still end up being a wasted contract spot, so they haven’t gotten it wrong yet, but likely will. His points in writing the article were all valid though. I mean, 9.5 out of 10 Macewans don’t ever get a sniff of the NHL. - 1970vintage
Incorrect. Even if MacEwen never makes the NHL he is not a wasted contract spot. At a bare minimum, he is proving to be a quality AHL player with a shot at spot duty in the NHL. That is not a wasted contract spot. Not even close |

Tomato potato. If he plateaus and gets passed by other, better players, then it is a “wasted” co tract spot. They have guys on AHL deals that will never make it to the bigs, he could become one of those guys. It’s not what I think, or hope will happen, but it still could. Now STFU and go to bed. |

Rickey Henderson
In the early 1980s, the Oakland A’s accounting department was freaking out. The books were off $1 million. After an investigation, it was determined Rickey was the reason why. The GM asked him about a $1 million bonus he had received and Rickey said instead of cashing it, he framed it and hung it on a wall at his house.

i don't get the automatic Hughes love? he a lower pick then OJ , and a pipsqueek to boot
if he is as good as some proclaim on this board he would not have dropped to7, he is a better Stetcher with less compete i imagine - onesmallleap
Hughes is clearly a tier above as a prospect, the guy looked right at home playing against NHL'ers at the WHC's and has taken over games at the college level.
OJ plays smaller than he is anyway so height is irrelevant when comparing the 2 players.
Hughes is the better skater and more dynamic with the puck.

Hughes is listed as an 'elite skater' in his scouting report. Very rare to be listed like that.
If anyone wants to see Hughes just go youtube. Kids got some great skills |

Its a damn shame that Byram is a LHD. Would be great to see someone rise up the ranks a bit who is a righty and then add him to the system but this draft, at least as of now, looks like a forward heavy draft. No goalies expected to go high and like 5D in the top30 as of the rankings that were out at the start of the month. - Lindenis#1
Justin Barron RHD is the 2020 draft. Step right into the NHL type of player. |

he's probably the best defenceman in NCAA and tracks pretty well on the same course as Werenski and GhostBear. That's why people are high on him. People in the know see something along the vein of Duncan Keith to Brian Rafalski.
People see OJ as a Hamhuis ceiling with a like... Jeff Petry reality. - Lindenis#1
A college writer listed Hughes as the best player in the NCAA this season. |

Hughes, Makar, Glass are probably the 3 best drafted prospects not playing in the NHL right now. |

No source. Wasn't in the book.
It only took 4 years but i've had to start a new book.
I'll put in in the book for reference now though. |

my point being it should not not effect whether you draft a player or not, if you have the best lefty's all playing together i imagine the team would be fine .
i believe Tryamkin prefers his off side , as an example, that it's not written in stone either way, and Edler struggles, as we saw in the torts era
but to dismiss an era and a coach who many consider as one of the greats because of time lapsed is near-sighted , because as in all life's lessons "what is old , is new again" - onesmallleap
If a LHD is the top player available you take him.
If it's a toss up between a center and a LHD, this team should take a center.
There are 6 top centers and a LHD at the top of the draft this year, you take the center. |

It was swirling because it got flushed like the turd that it is.
I wouldn't do OJ straight up for nylander.
I would do gudbranson, stecher, gagner and a third. |
