The Flyers when they're skating and moving their feet are plenty quick enough as a team.

No they're not slow. Not when they're skating and moving their feet.

Flyers compared to other NHL players

Folin: slow
Gudas: average, barely
Hagg: average
Lehtera: ridiculously slow
Raffl: average
Weise: average
Weal: average
Lindblom: slow
Simmonds: average
Patrick: average
Laughton: average
Giroux: average
Couturier: slow

So, 13 of the 18 skaters dressed tonight are average or below average NHL skaters. That’s not going to cut it these days.

You know better than this. Maybe I gave you more credit for knowing the game better. It not about how you want to rate each skater it's about how a team plays, how quick it moves the puck. How it takes away time and space of the opposition. Nobody can skate as fast as the puck moves.

I'll just re-post Pixote's post from the previous page. He gets it.

"I think it's more than just individual skating speed. It's team pace/speed. Their breakouts and support through the neutral zone in concert with their gap control has allowed them to control the pace of the game. When the Flyers start to figure it out and disrupt them they've been effective in switching it up. One of the big issues with the Flyers coming out of their zone is they get overloaded along the boards – teams have been doing this to the Flyers for a while."

It's not all bad.

Dale Weise almost did a thing.

Just kidding.

This team is awful to watch.

Pluses have been Laughton looking good in the 1st period...Sanheim starting to look like the player he was in lower levels.

Yes, you can offset a lack of speed with good puck movement, but please, if you can’t see that this team needs to upgrade in the skating department, then I just give up.

So a team full of Lehteras can be a fast team as long as they move their feet and make good passes? But a team full of TK's would be slow if they don't?

It doesn’t look at all like the flyers didn’t come to play or aren’t moving their feet or much of anything else. The Avs are sharper, quicker in foot and team speed, they are getting a stick on the flyers to deflect most of their opportunities. They are quicker and the flyers right now and a couple weeks ago don’t have any answers for them

(frank) sakes. Giroux....Shame Hagg doesn't have better speed (not his fault tho).
