Of what I saw, Hakstol for the majority of the press conference, was critical of the team.
- MJL

He was definitely critical of the team and Weal specifically. He mentioned that tripping penalty Several times. He seemed a little locked in on that early penalty. To me, if you’re a good team you brush it off, kill the penalty and move on

How bout Elliott makes a few more meaningful saves before worrying about the "structure" infront of him. Ive had it with the goalies. Cant believe Im looking forward to seeing Neuvirth again.
- Baxter27

I thought Elliott was pretty good tonight. Another one of those games where the goalie kept the team in it while the rest of the team forgot that the game started.

You mean like tonight when the score was 1-0 and made some saves on terrible turnovers or meaningful like every goal that goes in should of been a meaningful save?

It is just another season where when the best players are not playing like they are the best, the whole team looks like crap and falls apart.
- Glak18

Normally the case isn't it? If we compare how the Flyers best players played to the Avalanche's best players, who won?

I've been pretty critical of Elliot, but it could have been 5 - 0 after the first period.

Neuvirth isn't doing any better than Elliott with this team defense in front of him.

What's Patrick Roy up to these days?

Ill be honest, I missed the first half of the game. He lost the goaltending battle in the portion of the game I saw. I rarely blame goalies but this season theyve consistently let the team down when a momentum save was needed.

I'm going to keep saying it. Couturier this season is consistently having to play head to head against the opposition's top line. It's a factor.

There is no question goaltending is subpar, but to blame every goal on goaltending is ridiculous.

You could give a slub like me a point blank shot in the danger zone and I will bury it half the time, now put an NHL talent in that spot and they SHOULD bury way more. I don't think people realize the player ALWAYS has the advantage on the goaltender when they are open. Just because the Flyers bury the shot in the goalies chest doesn't mean every goalie should be expected to make those saves.

Stats heads will tell you to trust the process. The Flyers dominated this game in shot metrics. Anyone feel like the Flyers ever had this game in control?

I get what you're saying but when I see a lot of shots into a goalies chest, that tells me a few things. The chances are routine and a goalie is on his game with his anticipation, angles and technique.

He should call out Weal. He’s taken several penalties lately, including tonight. A few late towards the end of games too. When you have one of the worst PKs in the league you can’t be taking these dumb penalties.

Well its frustrating because other goalies always seem to be on their game against the Flyers and off when they play someone else.

That's what I'm talking about when Hakstol talks about the grade A chances the Flyers had. That's why I don't like when that is measured just by where the shot comes from. How many saves did Valarmov make where he had to move side to side, or while he was establishing position before he was set. Or where his eyes were taken away. He was able to get set and see the puck most of the night. Like I said, they made it too easy on him and the Avalanche as a whole. The Flyers are not a team that is going to snipe goals against a very good goalie who is out on his angles.

I dont blame every goal on goaltending. I blame the goalies for not stepping up when theyre needed most. This is a young team that will make mistakes. They need a goalie that can bail them out for more than a period.

Slight topic change for the wrestling fans out there.. Rough news about Roman\Joe tonight.

When he came out first, out of character I knew it had to be something bad but not as bad as it turned out to be.

Look fact is no one should be surprised. We go through this every year. Flyers never fo well in October. They play .500 hockey until maybe mid November or late november then they get hot and go on a crazy streak, cool down, go on another streak and cool off down the stretch heading into playoffs.

This year will be no different. They will pick up like they always do.

Varlamov had an easy night. As mentioned before this could have been 3 or 4-0 going into the 2nd if Elliott wasn’t on

That is 100% false. Flyers had so many great chances and dominated play at times. This could have easily gone Flyers way, especially if they didnt poop the bed on those faceoff wins.

No they didn't. They had some good chances but there wasn't one save where you could say that Valarmov robbed a Flyer. He had good looks at the puck all night. The Flyers didn't get in his face except for a few times. That's why they only scored 1 goal.

Ugh believe what you want. Everyone here always sing the same tune when Flyers lose. They lost because they made stupid mistakes and because they got unlucky with bouces. Gudas hit post, Weise hit post twice. Giroux had a few good chances as did Konecny, Patrick, Voracek and Simmonds(Rebounds).
