The wins are similar.
I think it would be more interesting to see what the teams' records are when you take the games against the Sabres out, because that's sort of double dipping.
Without the sabres results, the records would be
14-10-5 - teams weve lost against
15-17-3 - teams weve won against (6 more games played)
1 game under real .500, and 5 games under real .500
Also, are you counting vegas in both? - jcragcrumple
i did count vegas in both. and it does look a bit better without adding the sabres wins/losses in the calculation. but they still did win or lose against us so it is a part of their record.

It's part of the record, but it reinforces the narrative. I think subtracting the sabres record gives a more neutral representation of who these teams are in relation to the rest of the league, versus who they are against the Sabres which is 15% of the sample size. Interesting to me that if you don't count the Sabres games, both groups are under .500, while the Sabres are over.
There are still so many standings anomalies. The Kings and Rangers 2-5-1 records over a season would even out to 20-50-10 which most likely not a reasonable assumption, and the Avalanche are on pace to go 70-10-0
I think it's too early to make pronouncements about the teams we've played, and who we are in relation |

Depending on how Thursday goes, we're either on a 98 point pace, or an 80 point pace

Is 9 Playoff seasons and winning the Stanley Cup 3 times in that span running out of road real quick?
If so, sign md up, real quick.
You puucked the wrong team to make that point, lol. - IonSabres
They never won the Cup when actually paying their players, Toews and Kane were making $6.5M the last time they won. So nice try?
My point was you cannot pay going rate for your best players, you need players that are making way less than they're worth if you're going to go that way. And yeah, his team would work for a year or 2, but then you run out of road because you have young players due massive raises if the team is any good. |

the come back win against anahiem is a big + for this team. They didn't just pack it in when they went down. i don't think that has ever happened in the past 5 years - IndianaSabresFan
Along with the one posted below it happened a bunch, 2 years ago they were down 2-0 to the Kings and scored 6 goals in the 2nd half of the game and won 6-3. I remember that one because people walked out after the King's second goal, including a dumbass friend of mine. |

Can you really say that about a guy who has only been to the playoffs once? - buffalofan19
We got rid of most of our offensive output in Kane and O'Rielly.
I'd love to see how the Sabres would've been with both still here. I believe we could've gotten Thompson just for clearing cap space for St. Louis, which means 1 less 1st rd protected draft pick.
I could live with that.
then we still get sheary and hunwick from the pens and also skinner from the canes.
the team would be dangerous.

Let me get this straight....
Kane
Oreilly
Skinner
Sheary
Hunwick
Clearing cap space for St. Louis aka taking another contract
That’s a lot of dollars right there, do the Sabres not need to adhere to a salary cap? |
