Kahun has played well but he's going to be up and down as a rookie. I'm curious what Schmatz could do with ADB and Toews. - matt_ahrens
100% agreed! Badly need a top 6 (top 4 D man is a more pressing need) and move Kahun down to the 3rd line. For now Fortin/Kahun/Kampf but in due time D Sikura comes in if Schmaltz move back up like you suggested

There was one sequence with the Kane line where they possessed and skated the puck endlessly but nobody including the D would take a freakin’ shot - just lunacy and sadly so much wasted effort. In a similar vein I understand that Gus loves Kane but he passes up great open shots to pass to Kane even if Kane not in a good position. Gotta stop. - Z3Hawk
You mean around the world in 360 days...I agree! If nothing else just to keep the D honest and prevent them from packing it in. I say if there is no clear lane to the net, shoot for the bodies in front and create loose puck havoc.

Bad matchup tonight as the Blues were hungry to get a win after their terrible start.
There were a couple positvies tonight but overall, bad defensive laspes in theirnown end and I just feel bad for Corey.
Rutta being benched seems weird. He wasn't any worse than Manning IMO. Or Seabrook for that matter... he had a rough game.
Maybe he's on the move? I've heard more chatter in the last 24 hours about a possible move. So we'll see. - Justin Lowe
100% agreed! Hawks did not want to risk injury or for that matter Rutta playing worse to call off deal. Manning is a true 6/7!

you are entertaining to banter with because you are so wrong
Quick in 2014 was not that great..he and crow had similar stats in the CF as the pucks were going in and similar stats for the entire 2014 playoffs. So Quick carried a non talent laden team with williams winning the con smythe and the likes of kopitar, carter, doughty, gaborick etc..
craw = sine wave a guy who easily is the MVP and rock of the team from 2103 through his injury last year; and should have won the CS in 2013..
i dont know what is with cory deniers like you but the facts and record don't support it - bogiedoc
I would have to agree with you bogiedoc! Quick IMHO is overrated but you can be overrated and still be very good. He is just not consistent enough especially in big games. Yes his high end is awesome, maybe because of his "gumby" like and freakish flexibility. I would take Crawford over him in a NY minute!

25 of 40 goals scored by three players - only 15 by the other 15 skating positions - 12 by the other 9 forward spots - in 11 games.
And AdB and Toews have slowed to a normal pace.
This team will have trouble scoring many nights.
They are a .500 team long term - 6 up 5 down now - good enuf to play well and win a couple, but not deep enough yet to string longer win streaks. - StLBravesFan
Actually if you compare this to other teams around the league it’s more the norm than you’d think. |

I just did - and - to my surprise (by the results, not that I’m wrong) - you’re right - Preds (21 of 38 by three) and Avs (24 of 41) are similar - seems to be more skewed scoring than usual.
I don’t think any team will go far with about 60% of there scoring coming from only 3 players. |

Just some questions:
What is a separate line? Does a change of one player indicate a separate line?
Kane is often double-shifted (triple/quadruple) in a struggling game - so even if his line remains intact, he could be on 3/4 separate lines during a game.
How does this compare to other “superstars” over the same period of games? - StLBravesFan
https://frozenpool.dobber....com/players/patrick-kane
Appears that the change of one player makes it a separate line and not sure it corrects for someone staying a few seconds past their normal shift. I'm going to take a look at some other superstars, past and present, to see how it looks for them. Saw that Crosby, for example, had 206 combinations in 2007-08. As Gazza said, Kane has played close to 900 games, so maybe not that shocking, after all. |

Speaking of different, I saw this stat in Sports Mockery, and, if true, pretty amazing. Wonder how it compares to the former greats whose stats he's chasing or current big name players: - pdx2ord
That is an unbelievable stat. I assume it doesn't include the literal "on the ice at the same time" as it happens during line changes, but when factoring in Q's penchant for in-game line juggling and double shifting Kane probably more than top players on other teams get double shifted, I can understand the number of combinations would be high. But, that number is extremely high. I don't have the math skills to figure out the number of total possible 3-man line groupings based on every player having been in the lineup of 82 games over 11 seasons ... so I have no way to dispute that number - but it seems unbelievable.

A White man - born in the USA - takes guns into a synagogue and kills 11 just because they were Jews.
A White man - born in the USA - sends bombs through the mail to at least 14 people just because they were critical of - and criticized by - the President.
A White man - born in the USA - kills two people in a grocery store just because they were African-Americans after being unable to get into a Black church.
And Trump is whipping up fear of a “caravan” of people trying to flee violence and poverty in Central America who are 900 miles - and several weeks - away as an assault on America?

It's a sad situation that happened in Pittsburgh. That said I come here to get away from the nonsense that at times we call life and discuss Hawks and Hockey in general. Please keep the political nonsense out of here. No need for that to be discussed here |

Mind blowing stat, would like to know if 1 player changed makes it a whole separate line? (StLBravesFan question as well.) Wonder how many different separate lines Toews has played on?
This message has been brought to you by the Q blender. It works on fruits and veggies AND hockey players. - I Am The Breadman
VERY quick and dirty look at some other players. Yes, the change of one player does appear to make it a new line. Seems the blender might be worse elsewhere, however, it also appears at first glance that the teams have more success when it slows down (chicken/egg?).
During same years and looking at even strength, regular season only (I didn't correct for same lines playing together year-over-year, but if you download, you should be able to):
Toews 1327
Kane 1415
Ovi 1423
C Perry 1196 |

That is nuts!

So it is official - you are a Crawford apologist and of course than simply wrong. If you deny Crawford’s career has been a sine wave you need to get some glasses or update your prescription and while you are at it look up the word “objectivity” as you have none.
Stop trying to re-write history. In the 2014 Conference Final, where what was at stake was the winning team was going to win the Stanley Cup, Quick bested Crawford. In Game 7 the Hawks were at home where historically the vast majority of home teams win. The Hawks, of course, had the home game, being the more talented team.
In that game the Hawks outplayed the Kings. The Hawks staked Crawford to THREE separate leads - count ‘em THREE! In the first period the Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead and had a chance to bury the Kings. Crawford couldn’t hold the lead. Then 3-2 - couldn’t hold, then 4-3 - couldn’t hold giving up the last tying goal with less than 8 minutes left in the game. I was furious with Crawford that night. Quick made 37 saves on 41 shots. Crawford only made 27 saves as he only faced 32 shots.
Also you don’t win a Conn Smythe when you play so poorly you need to be replaced to avoid your team getting eliminated in the freakin’ FIRST ROUND!
I pull for Crawford. I recently said he was playing like the best goalie in the NHL - opps there is that sine wave and he was awful last night. |

I have been told to piss off twice now and been called emotionally weak.
I reread my two posts on this and can’t find a single personal attack in them.
I will not get into a debate with you about crimes committed by aliens, documented or not - altho the facts I’ve seen show that undocumented aliens commit fewer crimes proportionately than American citizens. I cannot document any of my sources for those facts now - and I’m not going to investigate.
As far as Sayoc being an Indian - the Seminole Tribe has found no evidence that he was a member of the Tribe, or was an employee of its casino under any of the names he used.
And to the numerical certainty about the thousands head this way - the numbers are down to less then half of the original 7,000 - and will continues to diminish as they move on (if they do). There is no evidence of people from other countries within the group or other lies told by Trump and his sycophants about them.
Again - if you don’t like what I post, get me banned. - StLBravesFan
This is a Hockey Board! I am not going to comment on the content of your non-hockey posts other than to say that this Board is not the outlet for them. There are lots of outlets for you to post these opinions - for example Reddit. |

2. Please keep threads on-topic
Try to keep things on-topic. If Eklund writes a blog on Eastern Conference trade rumors, and you want to talk about the latest NHL video game, please locate the appropriate thread, or create a new one, in the forums.
And yes, there is some more leeway given for general discussion on the threads of the team’s bloggers. But when the thread is devoted to discussing hockey, keep to the point at hand. |
