Way to go Saad......Brutal play, NO HANDS at all. - Hawkytalk
Yeah, he shouldn't be out there with Kane on a 3-on-3. Not a good mix of skills. |
|
|
|
See how McDavid was physical with Saad just enough to affect his ability to handle the puck, when i talk about our forwards being physical that's exactly what im talking about. |

Gus is STILL CLUELESS.....should have marked McDavid and let Ward deal with shooter. Textbook 2 on 1 defending playbook.....but NOOOOOOOOOO. Let the elite young gun have all the room.
This team is DAFT AF some nights. Good overall effort, but NO FINISH and no brains.
Another lost point at home. |

Ill take a player going to the net to make a play any day, very good play by McDavid |

I think we are on the same page
Great play by Kane to Gustaffson, good save by Cam. OT hockey. Just what I want more of after my kids team lost a 2OT game today in a tournament. - kwolf68
Oh boy .... that is not a good house to be in. And it just got worse. |

Absolutely correct. If the first 2 forward in OT HAVE to be Kane and Toews, then the second 2 forwards HAVE to be Debrincat and Schmaltz because they can handle the puck and create a scoring chance. All Saad can do is get tap-Ins and rebounds from 5ft away. And I don't necessarily agree about Kane and Toews being that 1st pairing every time either.

I wanted McBrainless kept off the scoresheet. Joki was doing just that. Why wasn't he in ot?

Blackhawks looked a bit tired tonight. At least they got the point. Heading to western Canada starting Wednesday for three games in four days and then four days off. It'd be nice to get at least four points out there.

Stupid play by Saad. In regulation that play would be fine - if you have a chance to drive the net and try to muscle it past the goalie you do it because there are team mates back to defend. But, in OT the rules of smart acceptable plays change exactly for the reason that happened tonight. In OT, the only good shots are shots where you have a breakaway, a two on one, or an unobstructed one on one with the goalie. If you don't have that you play puck possession and reset the play. Saad had McDavid on him and limiting him from going left so the only shot he had was one he's incapable of making. Saad's stupid play cost the Hawks a point ... that's two stupid plays in OT that cost the Hawks the second point. Maybe he shouldn't play in OT ... just an idea. |

6 wins and 6 losses. Why is Saad on the ice over Schmaltz and Cat? The guy can’t finish. |

Yep, we're lucky we got a point the amount of odd man chances we have up.
This team is so codependent, they always play to their opponent |

Hawks seemed to keep 97 quiet most of the night, but a bad turnover and Gus' brainfart turns him into the hero.

What is comes down to, is the Hawks handed the Oilers a 3 on 1 which included the best offensive player in the NHL. Saad trying to drive the net isn't an issue. The mishandle that gave Edmonton that chance was the problem tonight. |

Oh man, poor kid. Worst news on this board today. I really hope we don't see our highest pick in YEARS drop out of the game because of head injuries. Isn't this 4 concussions, now? |

So here we go 1 point in 2 games, oh but they're tired, blah blah blah, let the enabling begin |

Jokiharju is very impressive. 19 years old? Wow. He generally is in the right place and has high skill ability. He's a legit Calder Trophy candidate. - matt_ahrens
100% agreed! He reminds of a young Keith although he is ahead at similar junctures. Like Keith, he "blows up" plays before it starts by holding the blue lines with great reads and active sticks. Additionally, his keeps at the O zone blue line is impressive. You could tell he is playing his confidence and Q is playing into it (great thing) |
