That game was not super great. I feel like the Hawks could have ran away with it and made a bit more of a statement.
Anyway, take the points right now. 14 points and a winning streak is kind of neat. - fattybeef
It wasn’t a blowout on the scoreboard, but it was everywhere else.
19 shots allowed and only one Shot allowed in the 3rd period, while protecting a 1 goal lead, is just about the best possible statement a team that’s been struggling with team D could make...IMO |

Correct, but I would rather have neither in the top 6. Once Forsling and Murphy return they should replace the 3rd unit.
I forget who reported it, but there were lots of scouts at the last Rockford game. That worries me a bit, Forsling's first game back and all these scouts attend the game? I wouldn't be shocked to see him dealt, but I would rather see him play over Rutta, Manning and Davidson. - DarthKane
Hey DK - I was going to mention something about that as well.
Chris Block reported that there were a ton of scouts there but I heard that it might have been more for their opponent - St. Louis' farm team. |

Panarin had a great one timer. But a lot of it was because he was continually repositioning himself so that he gave Kane a path to get him the puck. He was smart that way. ADB does the same thing. It might not be a one timer, instead it is a wicked wrister. It might take him a little longer to get the shot off and get it to the net, but he has a wicked quick release and can elevate it and pinpoint it with anyone. His quick release and accuracy can be just as effective as the one timer. |

wow...what defensive 180 the last 2 games...and the turnovers have decreased significant as well...
it does appear they have figured each other a bit and not overplaying to compensate for another..
still don't like 2-3 dmen on this team...convert gus to a forward and be done with it..

We are at the point of bashing Schmatlz bc of his facial expressions? The kid back checks like no one else on the Hawks. If he lacked passion we wouldn't see him give a crap after losing possession.
Again Q puts him on the PK. If Q didn't like Schmaltz's play or defensive awareness or demeanor you can bet he wouldn't be out on the PK.
I've never seen a 22 year old ragged so much. This is like all those years posters ragged on Kane and wanted him gone - bhawks2241
Agreed... we need to criticize Schmaltz for more relevant issues, like his hair cut or choice of suit. With hair like that there's no way he should be signed to a long term contract. |

Backcheck was great last night, for all the credit Cat gets offensively, several times last night, his recognition of the dman pinching and rotating defensively was outstanding. Q even having him play some PK minutes and he still makes an offensive impact, his hockey IQ is incredible - BetweenTheDots
One other thing I notice about ADB. At the end of the shift he still looks fresh. He is often the guy making the last forecheck deep in the offensive zone. I am not sure if that is conditioning or that he just wills him to play hard that last 10 seconds of his shift.

Dinky Cat is more than a adequate replacement for Panarin. I think the money and/or assets that it would take to bring Bready back would be better spent on other areas of the team. |

Unbelievable start to the season. Not one 'expert' saw the Hawks doing this well. The season is young but as time passes the lads will only gel more and more. And CC has been a HUGE part since his return. Wow. Wow. And wow again.
Big decision - Cam Ward in game 1 or in game 2 this weekend on the back to back? Very important. I say CC against the Oilers? - Garn.
Play the percentages. Try to win a low scoring game with the Blues and then offer Ward up as a sacrifice against the Oilers. |

Saw that at least once with Debrincat last night, was out there for like 45 seconds and then still took a semi-breakaway into the offensive zone when most guys would've dumped and changed. |

i didnt like that facial reaction by Schmaltz after he assisted on the Fortin goal - almost like, yeah we scored, but i am not happy to be on Line 3 - thoughts anyone? - glennjpawlak22
Life must be good if we are grading facial reactions after we score a goal.

Call Garpax - with the injuries they're having they could use some help down low. |

The Kings are not looking good right now and Doughty's $11M does not kick in until next year. Looking at some of the contracts being handed out by other teams (lately by the Knights), it brings us to a more favorable relative position cap wise. If Bowman can start to show some restraint especially with RFA's where he does hold the hammer, we should be in good shape going forward. |

The top 6 seems to be humming along quite nicely. The team needs to upgrade the bottom 6, either internally (Rockford calls-ups) or externally (trades).
Even with Murphy and Forsling back the defense could still be upgraded.
In any case, both scenarios are more of an immediate need than re-acquiring Panarin. I think the breadman is awesome, but I don't see him fitting into Chicago's long term plans. |

I really like the play of Manning. He's not going to blow you away in terms of skillset, but he's had some steady play and I liked the little scrap with Vesey. Haha. - Hank3Henshaw
Manning is too inconsistent for me. His ill-advised attempt to stickhandle inside the Rangers blueline and resulting turnover lead directly to the Rangers’ goal.
