Hopefully we can sign Skinner

We kinda got lucky with Sheary
That trade probably only happened bc of Botts’ ties to Pitt and then needing Cap Room

Great moves though
I think both trades were the only things we ALL agreed on in years
Other than
F the Leafs
F the Sens
Etc

- jdfitz77

I think there are probably teams who undervalued both because of size

Fair enough
We’ll see at the end of the year what his stats look like

As for those who wanna potentially blame him for StL’s lack of success...
they’ve been on a downward trend for a couple years now
I don’t think ppl should be surprised they’re struggling
I thought they were a playoff team,
but the competition out west is pretty fierce

I could kinda see that
The way the game has been trending with speed being so important, and many smaller players having sustained success...
i wouldn’t say that was the general consensus
But it’s certainly possible a few GMs felt that way

They could’ve also not liked Skinner bc of his lack of defense (although i think he’s been pretty decent for us, even good in a couple games)
And they could’ve looked at Sheary’s success as being a product of playing with all that talent

Regardless...
looks like both moves are paying off
Low risk, high reward
Botts did a great job on those trades for sure!

I wouldn’t blame him, and the year is still early. But i think it just again reinforces how over rated his value is.

He’s had a couple nice games with 3 points but he literally is 2nd in the league in secondary PP assists. His numbers are inflated

blues have bad year, blow it up, we get top 5 pick next year
- robz228

The Blues will wake up in late November and Play above average hockey to the point where they are giving us a top 15 pick and not making the playoffs. That’s my hope at least. If it’s top 10 they keep it. This is another really strong draft this year. Can’t remember when the NHL strung together this many good drafts consecutively.

Pominville stinks, screw him. His claim to fame is the goal is scored in Ottawa. Yea I said it.

I believe the 1st is only top10 protected for this coming Draft
So if they keep it this year,
there is a possibility that they just fall apart & we get a great pick

The ‘20 draft looks to be dense with scoring forwards at the top too
Although, drafts tend to look like that a couple years out
Lefreniere & Byfeld are among the front runners from what I’ve read so far

U devalue secondary assists a lot
Especially on the PP
How many times have u seen someone make the wrong pass & it ends up getting cleared instead of a scoring chance?

Can’t often get to that goal if someone is making a bad play
Even if all you’re doing is getting it back to the open point man,
and his shot gets deflected in
That’s often better than forcing something down low or cross ice

And he coincidentally has 11pts in 9games
Look what happens when he’s used more reasonably

Yes, i know he’s not Bergeron
But even if we had Bergeron instead of ROR,
the mess of a TEAM the last few years wasn’t going anywhere

Blaming O’Reilly like some do is just crazy talk

He was very good at trades.

I'm not sure I'd hang Leino totally on him, new owner wanted to make a splash. But in general signing guys was not his strong suit. The Briere Drury fiasco being top of the list.

Unless that Kalinin for Iginla trade rumor was true

it's a tough division to get behind in, no question there

they've also tapped into LTIR, so any moves would be very tough to make

Because they are literally the easiest and most random type of point to acquire.

I'm trying to decide if the penalty he drew last night was a dive. Is he a known diver?

There’s be nothing to dredge up if others didn’t keep talking about him to begin with

You’re talking to the wrong guy here

No they actually are the most random and easiest of any point. Not trying to argue but that is a fact that’s already been proven.

Mittelstadt got a secondary PP assist last night for taking a bad shot.

Hecht was the king of starting plays that led to goals but never got an assist.
