Vanek and Foligno for Seguin - jcragcrumple
not to ruin your friday night, but it just occurred to me that there was a very real possibility of us having both Tyler Seguin and Taylor Hall on this team.
And the cost would have been Vanek, Foligno and Ristolainen.

Anyone buy Rooties lately? I think they changed their recipe again. It's been really good the last two times I bought it. |

Yes but no Dahlin and probably no Eichel.
We win |

I get that and I don't disagree but its just funny to me how after years of protesting the idea of rebuilding on they fly, there was a very real scenario in which the sabres could have rebuilt on the fly. |

Oh I know, I just mean that even the Tim Murray era resulted in something good.
We have an actual franchise center and D man |

No they actually are the most random and easiest of any point. Not trying to argue but that is a fact that’s already been proven.
Mittelstadt got a secondary PP assist last night for taking a bad shot. - sbroads24
I’m not saying it doesn’t happen
I’m saying it’s not ALWAYS random,
yet it seems like you ALWAYS discount them
Is the primary assist a better indicator of what led to the goal?
Yeah, usually
But the secondary assist can also be an important part of what led to the goal as well |

kinda feels weird tbh. there was a time there where even though i really believed in Botts I was like "how the hell is he going to land a #1 for this team?" |

There’s be nothing to dredge up if others didn’t keep talking about him to begin with
You’re talking to the wrong guy here
Again...
I’m NOT the one who brings him up

When you want to tank, you hire a Nolan

I’ve been a big proponent of what a great job Botts has done in a short period of time with building depth on defense
That said...
if we don’t win the Dahlin lotto,
we’re still struggling to figure out how to fix the defense

Maybe he goes hard after De Haan? Offers a poop ton for Dougie Hamilton? it's whatever now but he definitely would have had his work cut out for him. |

I’m not discounting them. They count as points. It just isn’t indicative of him playing well offensively or anything.
Even if you take all of them away he’s still been decent offensively to start. |

Here’s a fun example:
Tyler Myers has been a bad PP player for a majority of his career.
Last year Maurice put him up top where his job was to literally feed Ehlers on the wall and let Ehlers make plays. All the sudden Myers was one of the better PP d men last year.
PP points just aren’t a great measure of talent |

You can’t ACCURATELY say that unless you actually saw the plays where he was given credit for the secondary assist
It very well could’ve been an important part of the play
That’s why i say you’re discounting them |

Yeah, possibles
Although deHaan is more of a decent 2nd pair guy than a guy who could have enough an effect to help “fix” the defense
It would’ve been more of an uphill climb
And who knows what we’d have had to give up in a bidding war for Hamilton
I remember saying last year that winning the lotto for Dahlin was more important for me than winning the one for McDavid |

I was listening to Michael Russo on KFAN radio today and they asked him his biggest surprise team. He said the Blues. He said the locker room has a lot of in fighting. Thankful Botts unloaded that POS. I thought for sure the Blues locker room would have a grung band singing cumbya |

He was very good at trades.
I'm not sure I'd hang Leino totally on him, new owner wanted to make a splash. But in general signing guys was not his strong suit. The Briere Drury fiasco being top of the list. - Wetbandit1
Not sure if I'd hang that on reiger.
I'm sure he wanted to sign both of those guys more then anyone on hockeybuzz.
He wasn't allowed too.

But kane was "the best player on the sabres" last year.
He was a BUM
Have you looked at pommers career stats?
Very impressive
