Eklund: Tortorella is 100% Right. Are there still teams/players you hate? Buzz@1 - Eklund
It's because the divisions have been watered down. I'm not saying go back to the 8 games against division opponents, but I wouldn't be opposed to 6. Familiarity breeds contempt.
I would much rather play the Bruins, Leafs and Habs more. I don't need to see the Rangers, Isles and Canes 3 times a year, and I'm totally fine with alternating home and away with the West every other year for more division games. |

I don't think there is a lack of hating rivals by the fans, but there is definitely a lack by the players. I grew up in NY, and had Ranger season tickets, from the late '70s (through the Dark Times 1980-1983) to the late '80s. Those games were wars, on the ice and in the stands. And to a lesser extend with the Flyers, and Bruins.
When I watch a Ranger - NYI game now, I still scream my head off, but the players act like they are playing any other team.
I realized why a few years ago. The current players weren't even born until way after those years, and didn't grow up Ranger fans. I don't think you get that hatred until you watch your rival win the cup. |

One thing i have noticed more this year. Is lack of good hard checks. Everytime i see them going into the corners or along the boards im expecting someone to get hit. Nope . Im all for concussion protocol, taking away head and cheap shots. But wheres the good ol hard checking? Lucky if there is 1 a game. It has become kind of boring and homogenized. Its like the ice rink is 1 big safe zone for super sensitive millennials..
Maybe instead of athletes. We should just have teams with the best ps4 players. Then we will probably see hockey played the way it was meant to. |

Growing up on here in the west coast, I became a Islander fan & don't like the Rangers at all. When the Sharks started & the Ducks joined the league, It now the Ducks along with the Rangers. Who names their team after a cornball movie. I also have to mute the TV when Pierre gets into his LOVE FEST With Eddie O (Calls him Enzo)..
Other sports, I hate the Dodgers,(The schools I don't mind just these coaches) Coach Urban Meyer, Nick Sabean & their Ego's |

I hate how some games are worth 2 points and some are worth 3. Its the most ridiculous rule in sports. And the Rangers, Leafs, Penguins, Bruins and Flyers. |

I hate the hockey team from Boston. They had the temerity to "steal" coach Don Cherry from the Rochester Americans. Thieving bastards! Oh, and I don't want to hear that the Amerks were Boston's AHL affiliate at the time, and there's a possibility that Cherry wanted to move to the NHL. HATE 'EM!
I have unassailable logic for hating the hockey team from Philadelphia. Those punk bastards beat the Buffalo Sabres in the 1975 SCF. They're on my s#!t list for life! |

I hate the Leafs, the Habs, the Bruins, the Sens, the Flyers, the Rangers, the Hurricanes, the Capitals, the Devils, Marchand, Tom Wilson, Lucic, Kadri, and going on a bit of a tangent here, NBCSN broadcast crew and Bettman.
I know I'm forgetting some. |

Agree 100%..As a kid I remember going to flyers rangers game and if there wasn’t a fight in the first 5 minutes it was a shocker...5 years ago even without as many enforcers there was so much anger on the ice you could feel it in the stands..now it feels like men’s league with hitting out there.. it’s common if a team is getting blown out they don’t even push back |

(frank) Ohio State, (frank) Utah, (frank) Florida. Bowling Green gets a pass.
Nick Saban is a huge bumhole, and a petty one at that, not letting players who don't even play transfer to a school where they would. |

I used to hate the Red Wings, but that faded away after they went to the Eastern Conference. Nothing else has replaced that Hawks and Wings rivalry for me. |

The player I hate the most is Marchand. I wanna support home town players but I'm sick of his bs moves. I've always hated montreal as a team. Took lots of abuse from hab fans growing up as the only leafs fan in my group of friends |

It’s a product of the salary cap and the fact that players change teams more often now as a result of it. |

You sound like someone who yells at clouds and inquires about the physical location of the "interwebs".
We are (basically) the same age, hockey difference being I started watching when the Preds came into being. I LOVE where the game is going. FWIW: I wasn't a big fan of Jarome Iginla's game (though he seems like a wonderful person)
Love, l, LOVE it. - farooge
Take notes ppl.. This is what the fans sound like who destroyed our league.. you didn't like Iggu's game!?!?!?!? Please do us real fans a favour and stop watching hockey.. you disgust me!

Well hockey is pretty much non competitive from day 1 now. Not just the fact they don't keep score in kids games(fine). But that half the kids starting out have literally never set foot in skates before and the parents dress them all up in $1000 worth of new equipment and drop them off and basically tell me to make him the next McDavid(and they tell the kid he is). So the kids who love the game and who skate and shoot any chance they get away from the rink, get bored because 90% of "hockey" practice is helping the kids who can't even stand up on ice instead of, you know, anything hockey related. |

Used to really despise the Habs, but that feeling has somewhat faded over the years. I guess it might come back if we had a playoff series or something, but right now all we have is regular season bragging rights which is meaningless. No one 40 years old and younger remembers or cares about Leaf/Habs playoff series before the 1980's .
For some reason I can't explain, I despise the Carolina Hurricanes. They're like that one team that I truly do not give one measly (frank) about. Other teams I don't like are the NY Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Mr. goodie two shoes Crosby. Also Don't like the Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks and the Golden Knights. Something about the VGK that just annoy me!
Actually don't hate Ottawa or Buffalo. I want to beat them when we play them but I don't have that hate like they have for us.
Teams I kinda like are the Oilers (I know they hate us but living in AB for almost 18 years I kind of got a soft spot for them), Flames, Jets, Flyers, Blackhawks. There are other teams that I just don't have any vested interest in at all.
Used to not like the Capitals until Ovie lifted the Cup and the pure emotion that he had was pretty nice to see. That cup really meant a lot to him and he had the time of his life after.
Oh yeah, (frank) Brad Marchand, I can't wait for the day he has to pick up his teeth off the ice! Don't hate the Bruins but can't stand him! |
