Don’t worry, in two games a puck will go off his skates into the net and there will be 8 posts of “where are all the HATERS now?”

Notice how he doesn’t score goals away from Eichel?

I really thought he turned a corner last year. I was dead wrong

- sbroads24

I could see sam get hot in stretches.

If we really are competing in the playoffs though, it seams like eichel has the right intensity, drive and will.

Those aren't measured in points

Which is actually good for a 4th liner.

This is who he is. And he’s playing his role incredibly well this year.

He’s been on the ice for 2 goals against 5 on 5. 2. That’s incredibly good

Larsson leads the team in CF%

- sbroads24

And neither have produced meanful results. They both assisted on Bogo's snipe, and Girgs had an assist on an empty netter. They don't produce meaningful results.

I would love to see them actually score a meaningful goal. It's not happening. They're spare parts. Time to move on

Though Eichel does have to be better, mainly calm down a bit it seems, trying to do too much, make too many moves...

This is Reinhart, he's a slow starter. Whether they can figure out why and remedy that will be the big question. But if we end up with a guy around 25 goals and 50 points with excursions up to around 60 in a good year. I will take that.

Are other nhl 4th lines putting up good point totals?

I agree, it would help. Just wondering?

Except keeping the puck in the oppositions end, and not getting scored on is absolutely meaningful results for a 4th line. It’s pretty much what every team wants out of their 4th line.

Not usually.

I’m not sure how anyone can have anything negative to say about that line since it’s been formed

Except actually producing

I look forward to another -34, 4 goal season out of Larsson

These guys are misfit toys. Borderline impact AHLers

But they are. They are setting this team up with offensive zone starts and have drawn 5 penalties between the 3 of them.

I mean no offense but they could start scoring goals and you would just complain about the penalty killing or something so I’m not sure why I’m bothering here

Right now, the top 2 lines are getting 70%+ ozone starts. The 3rd line is getting 60%. The '4th line' (which is really seeing third line minutes), is getting 80% dzone starts.

Sure, they are playing a bit too much, but how do you want to fix it? This team is loaded with bad defensive forwards. Who do you want to expose to tougher starts and bad matchups?

I really didnt like berglunds game the first few games,
I thought Larson was terrible last year
I have liked girgs since we drafted him. I think it's the effort. Statistically he's been rough

But right now, all 3 are playing well together , they are part of a winning formula the last 4 game point streak

Larsson and Girgs have to go but Rodrigues can continue to do absolutely nothing on the score board?

And the good part is the 4th is flipping the ice. It’s what a good 4th should do.

If they were getting caved in and just collapsing defensively and not letting in goals, but getting peppered with shots it would be different

If they score their usual 4-7 goals, meh. They suck. It's really not a hot take. They're bad.

And the PK is a hot mess. I've been saying since the Canadiens game that McCabe saved their skin on the first PK when the sabres were down 1-0. 22 and 28 were a disaster.

They really aren’t right now though. I mean I’m totally fine with replacing Johan Larsson pretty soon. But not when a line is giving you 75% possession with heavy D zone work. It doesn’t get much better.

And they will score goals pretty soon if those numbers stay anywhere near there

No one would be happier than I if Girgs pulled a 10 goal season out of his butt, or if Larsson had a 20 point season. It looks pretty bleak. These guys are disposable at best and a hindrance, realistically. Nylander and Olofsson should be playing instead, with Berglund,Sobotka and ERod on the 4th line, and these guys in the press box or gone

So Erod, who’s played with talent and had PP time, has 0 goals and that’s totally cool. But Girgensons needs to score more?

And you expect Olofsson to just jump into top 9 minutes with Nylander and have 5 rookie forwards in the top 9?

It’s working how it is right now.

ERod is above criticism on all Sabre boards. I've just kind of accepted it, but it makes no sense to me. That said, not going to bash him at all. Gotta think he's dealing with something serious right now.

I've bashed Larsson as hard as anyone, but right now, I just don't see who's taking those dzone minutes from him....until Asplund is ready. Maybe Wilson, but Nylander, Smith, and Olofsson aren't strong defensively.

I like Erod, but he was heading to the press box lately.

Anyone have any clue what the issue is?

Olofsson is a rookie in name only, he's like a 34 year old Panarin rookie(yes I know he's 23, but he's not 18-20 like the other kids), and he's played professional hockey for 4 years and a cup of coffee (11 games) in 13-14.

How do you get to 5? I got Nylander, Olofsson, Mittelstadt.

I’m also fine getting them up here, but not at the expense of a line posting 60% possession on a nightly basis.

Thompson and Rodrigues would be first to get the boot as of today

He had 3 less 5v5 points than ROR last year in 650 less minutes. And he was actually even in Corsi and a +3.7Rel. Had 25 points in 48 games(43 point pace) while only playing 13:56 a night. And he's better than average defensively.

He hasn’t been good this year outside of one game. He was awful a few games ago and doesn’t have a goal yet.

I like him but if we’re gonna hold players to the standards of having to “produce”, he should be in that conversation
