They need a good coaching staff. Trotz is a great coach, so is Gallant which allows teams to succeed. Playing favourites like Pouliot and making Suter the poster boy of the ultimate player makes for a crappie team. - TJTD
I think TG has grown a bit but he still shows too many qualities of being an AHL/CHL coach.
Most NHL coaches get their first shot and then make the rounds between leagues and other teams before they win a cup.
Gallant - Colmbus and Florida before Vegas.
Quenneville - STL COL CHI 13 years before a cup.
Mike Sullivan the anomaly ten years prior he coached Boston then came in and won two cups immediately with the penguins.

I think part of it has to be that he is just losing interest. No Sedins here plus he can't really be that bad...can he? |

Agree, I think the Canucks will go through numerous changes before they're ever relevant or good again. GM and coaching positions. |

True. Reminds me a bit of Dallas Eakins when he was the flavour of the month AHL coach coming up. Might be too early to tell but I expected more out of Green as he played over 1000 games in the NHL. Hoping that experience(s) translates to the players.
lol Sullivan inherited a pretty deep Pens club with maybe the worlds best 2 players...the TSN monkey could have coached that club to two championships...lol |

Travis Green is a useless tool.
Pouliot & Eriksson are his favourite players. - Marwood
They have also ruined Virtanen. The guy doesn't even know what to do on the ice anymore and has turned into the new Mason Raymond( making big circles around the net). I blame Willie D for that also but the organisation doesn't play to the strengths of the players they have. Just wants 23 Suters unless you are a pet favorite. Then you can do what you want. Pouliot is so bad though- never wins a battle, coughs up the puck with any pressure, and will always give you the suicide pass. Wasn't it green who said that you know the difference between an AHL pass and an NHL pass?? What a joke!
By the way what was with the ice last night?? Everyone falling or drunk or what? |

I think they'll ride Green out but yeah there is a good possibility that Benning is gone before the draft. |

Draft lotto balls this year will decide Van's near future but I think a coaching change in a year or two will decide whether they are past the first round of the playoffs or not. GM change won't make much of a difference to me. He drafts well enough with the picks he has. It's up to the coach to get the best of out his players. TG so far isn't doing a very good job outside of the players that don't need a coach to do well.
No one has improved under TG. Except for maybe Virtanen and he should have a natural growth being young. |

Not sure on that one. Watched him closely in the WHL here and a lot of it with JV was the same crap.
Just needs the right coach to bring it all out thought maybe that was Green...maybe not. |

You make a good point but why do we have to waste time on losers. Green was always a talented loser. No chin says it all. |

Former Canuck and now VP for Begas was on the radio the other day. One of the things he said that was a source of their success was that the owner was willing to do what it takes - he gave them the budget to hire the largest scouting staff in the NHL, because they knew that from the time they got franchise approval to the expansion draft would be their most critical time. - 1970vintage
Cool, and trump is the best president of all time.
Didn't know scouting budgets were public... |

The sky is falling , this is a young team learning the ropes of consistency in the best league in the world, they have played all the contenders pretty much through 12 games and we are 500, keep learning and moving forward is the mantra. |
