Chris Sale and David Price citing video games being a huge contributor to team bonding for this world championship team.
Alonso Davies cites not being nervous for his final whitecaps game because he had won a squad game of fortnite the night before and had that on his mind.
Washington Capitals cite Mario Kart being one of the team bonding games they play together the year they win the Stanley cup
we need more team dinners/nights at the movies though. - Codes1087
Yup - more video games is gonna lead this team to the promised land!! |

1) I never mentioned it would turn a dogpoop team into a championship team.
2) I'm also not saying its going to make this team better, this team is going to be bad regardless of what they are doing, but a crappy team using fortnite or video games as a scapegoat or excuse is just stupid. Its more or less a sign of the changing times. Teams don't go to the bar the night of a win and get plastered anymore. The Calgary flames management and team taking digs at Dougie for going to the museum instead of dinners is no different. Let the players bond however they want to was my point. |

Yeah I agree let the guys play games - it really doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't get outta control. But I also think using those championship teams as a comparison to ours, isn't accurate. We're a mediocre team, with/without the games. I think the purpose of banning it, is actually so that it can't be used as a scapegoat or excuse. |

there isn't going to be any magic juice for this team to be better. They are bad, and that's not due for a lack of trying, but an inferior roster from top to bottom, inferior coaching staff, and inferior management (all my own opinion). I just think its prehistoric thinking for a bottom 5 team for the past X amount of years to put a ban on something that every team in every major sports league is partaking in. It just makes them look stupid. Every team now is coming up and crediting different video games, whether they are for a new age console or a original N64 (have seen golden eye bond and Mario kart as common games played). |

If i had to guess - i'd say they did it because they know its one less thing to worry about. We're not a good team so lets just focus on hockey, we got bigger fish to fry. It's unnecessary, but I don't think its stupid at all.
Also, just because other teams haven't done it, doesn't mean its not a problem and how would regulars chaps like you or I know if it was affecting players from team to team? Maybe, Laine is staying up all night, crushing some Goldeneye and that's why he only has 2 goals this season. Sweet irony! |

We don't really know what teams have issues with it, but that's probably because most other teams keep things within house and don't go to the media and make a big deal about it. Horvat/Del Zotto saying its dumb and that its a bad way to team build, after Boeser/Hutton/Stecher and others are all well known for playing it was dumb IMO. Teams can have their own set of rules, and it doesn't mean they have to make a spectacle about it. Mind you, its pretty par for the course, the Canucks generally handle everything they go publicly with kind of poor. |

why can't it be both? lol. I think as long as athletes aren't doing things that harm their performance/health, they should be able to do whatever they want. |

I didn't hear Bo say that? Didnt he say something like - "we visit a lot of cool cities so playing games or staying in the hotel & playing games can be a waste of time?" or something along those lines? I know that Matthews said on off days he doesn't leave his apartment and plays all day long - and that's directly what led to his "shoulder injury".... Now he got a month+ to crush it!
Who knows, maybe more teams will ban it and it'll become the norm? JB will end up being the genius |

Because a solid 4th line, champion, shouldn't cost you top 6 money. Because a good 3LC shouldn't cost you 2LC money.
Because Benning likes his character and overpaid for it.
Because beagles contract makes him untradable and sutters limits his value.
If you can move Sutter, then you can call beagle for 3LC and not have such embarrassing cap management. - Pres.cup
lol last time I checked Beagle ain't making top 6 money but I hear you on cap management but that technically wasn't the point. There is no reason you can't have both players on the club. |

to be honest, I am sure many professional league teams across the world have banned it. I don't recall very many going to the media or public and saying they banned it, but I am sure its enforced out there somewhere. |

not at all, the exact opposite. If players want to go have drinks after a game, I'm all for it. If they want to drink on offdays on the road, I'm all for it. If they want to go to a museum or sight seeing on an off day, go for it. My point was, as long as they aren't doing major harm to their bodies, or setting themselves up for a poor performance the next day (game day), who cares what they do? |

I think there is a big difference between a group team bonding with video games together over people holed up playing games in their room to the wee hours of the night and other reclusive behavior instead of bonding.
