With that being said...my sources found a copy of Stanley Bowman's to do list for the next 8 months....

His gap control is excellent and he does a good job of getting his shoulder into a chest and turning the puck away. Neat that they're counting contact as a hit but not a number I'd put a whole lot of emphasis on.

Schmaltz with two guys who want to shoot the puck (dcat and Toews) would be fun maybe.

The NHL scheduling is atrocious. At this point I'd be more concerned with an injury to a top player than anything else. Not much of a surprise they were a little flat Sunday. They play an awful lot of games in December as well. Woof. Hopefully they use this lighter month to bank some points.

Agree that Schmaltz needs to be with Toews and ADB. I really like Kahun but to expect him to be a big contributor on line 1 as a rookie is senseless. Get him acclimated on the 3rd line in a checking role for now, and push the chips in and strengthen that Toews line. This team can't survive without 2 top scoring lines.

Hawks need Saad to have private training sessions with Adam Oates so he can learn how to control the puck and dangle. Guy has Bickel/Stalberg puck control right now.

No OT team game plan - McDavid simply pushed the physically bigger Saad off the puck as if he were a child man and despite going behind his own net AT THE END OF HIS SHIFT still beat all other Hawks down the ice to score the winning goal as if no one knew that was a possibility - da! Slap in the face. Kick in the ass. Hellllo.
This year this team is nothing going nowhere. The only thing they will accomplish this year is to take themselves out of a top draft pick. What to do?
Nurture and shape the youth. Crawford is 33 years old - plan NOW for a #1 replacement - not after he retires and you're left with no one. Stop signing past players to mega $ thank you contracts - although there's no one left within the organization to give thank you $ to- oh wait - in 2022 when Duncan Keith's contract ends and he's 39 years old perhaps Stan can offer him an 8 year thank you contract at $25 mil per!
Stan is not the GM everyone thought he was. He rode the coat tails of his predecessors. He's the reason for all the salary cap issues that has lead to the recent Hawk demise. How come the Crosby/Malkin/Murray....Penguins don't have those issues.....because their GM actually managed the team's cap and made it work.
SAY GOODBYE TO STAN is the top move the organisation should consider.

Mark stone wayne Simmons would 2 players i look at because i don't see phily extended simmons and stone is not signing back with Ottawa IMO. I would assume smalz and young d prospect would have to be involved in said trade.

Smaltz + krys and 4th for stone too much or not enough? Then sign stone 6 years 7 million per. Thoughts?

Problem is - 3x3 is such a different game than “normal” 5x5 - primarily in the “factlmthat possession is paramount.

I’m not sure how much 3x3 ice time Saad has had, here or in Columbus - I don’t recall him being out there much (if at all) this year. Need experience to know uow to make the right plays.

I do not think that having Saad out there for OT is a problem. You usually have one D, one play-making forward and a finisher. Let me qualify a finisher is much different 3v3 because more than likely you will be part of a 2 on 1 to score which less requires a snipe compared and more going to net and stick on the ice. The benefit with Saad is his 200ft speed to get back although it didn't happen the other night as he was behind the net

McJesus had the inside position/the angle against Saad. It had nothing to do with physical strength.

100% agreed ! Saad should have felt that inside shoulder pressure and also on his backhand and curl away from it on his forehand buying more time for Gus to drop down in the high slot just off to the left and Kane to either change (Toews did) or Kane to open up via drop pass/cycle or rotate back up. This would have gotten CM and Draisaital more tired as they have been out the entire time.
