Real quickly, bc it’s getting on gametime

Ryan Spooner has better pts/60 last year than Ovechkin & Benn & Panarin

Why?
They’re clearly not on the same level
Not even close

It’s bc Spooner played 15min a night,
And these other guys played 20min per

If Spooner was given and extra 5min of icetime per night,
his points would not go up accordingly

And it’s even more ridiculous when u try to say a 3rd/4th line guy can come up & fill in for a 1st/2nd line guy bc they have similar-ish pts/60

And yes Sbroads...
you pull that nonsense frequently

It doesn’t hold up
And that’s just 1 quick & obvious example

Nobody is ever using the stat to argue that Spooner could replace the production of any of the players you've mentioned if you just gave Spooner those extra minutes. You're saying that's what people are arguing. But they aren't.

That said, it can be a useful stat--when taken together with other stats--for identifying players who might produce more if put in a different situation.

I thought all statistical measures are supposed to be interpreted as absolutes.

The problem is that you guys have made no progress here. Next week or next year, he's going to make the same bad argument with the same bad examples.

He has a sly way of making general posts directed at certain people.

He's either an incredibly effective troll or he just doesn't get it. Either way, he's just going to keep digging his heals it.

If by "significant impact" you mean 7th on the team in points in the regular season and playoffs, then sure. They won despite him and his bullpoop, and then inexplicably rewarded him for it. Tom Wilson is not a good player. Lars Eller had more points with less ice time in both the regular season and playoffs. And Eller didn't get to play with Ovechkin and Kuznetsov/Backstrom, he got to play with Brett Connolly.

Stats matter for sure.
Theyjustront tell the whole story.
Tom Wilson's physicality, and two head-hunting hits were a large factor and he alo g with sevetal others on the Caps turned the Tampa series aroun, plain and simple by taking Stamkos and Kucherov out of the last three games.
You may not remember it, but it was and is absolutely the truth.

That's not something the league should be rewarding. We've seen that in the playoffs against Connolly and Vanek. It's garbage. I hope he learns from his 20 games, but he won't.

Imagine how limited the opponent would be if we just shot them all in the leg. That would be very effective.

Maybe for the Bills 2nd or 3rd rounder this year but not McCoy. Lindsay and Freeman have been a good duo.
