If the Sabres win tomorrow they will be on a 102 point pace...
Just saying - Stripes77
Am I crazy or does it seem the schedule is a lot more balanced than the last few years? |

From the last blog: in regards to the defense.
I have dahiln #1 almost by fault. He rarely seams to make a mistake. Jumps up in the play
Bogo- has played well. Fought 3 times. Added toughness and you can tell he has a good bond with his teammates. Really hasnt turned the puck over in our own zone.
Risto - mistakes and big minus - number
McCabe- appears to play for the other team at times. Cant clear the puck. Brain farts?
Bowl u/- played better this year for sure. Limited minutes.
scandella- turnovers, bad decisions- almost every game
Nelson- not really doing anything . Looks nervous and indecisive. - Boss34
I'm not saying your overall evaluation is way off, but I think your evaluations of all players tend to overvalue physical toughness and fights. That part of the game has a role, but it isn't as big as it once was, and there are many teams that find success without that aspect of the game.
Here's my proof - name one "enforcer" who plays in the league any more.

Rob Ray is still enforcing the "glory hole" calls... does that count? |

With that, and the jab thrown at Lehner I wouldn't be surprised if he got his "pee pee slapped" |

didn't know he's out...pilut would be my choice, but they might go redmond - Michael Pachla
Redmond has an AHL deal.

It is to a certain degree, I didn't like that they played Vegas twice in the first 2 weeks of the season though |

I feel like we were out of it before we played a lot of home games last year. Like the first 15 games we were on the road like 10 of them at-least. |

He said something along the lines of "the best part of being in OT for the Sabres is not having Lehner in net" |

I agree, I do like the tougher players. So I probably overvalue toughness.
Enforcers are gone, but you need tough players that can at least stick up for themselves. So they can play "their" game and not worry about getting crushed every shift.
Guys that handle themselves ( not good or bad players)
Eichel
Skinner- as we saw with phaneuf
Okposo
Girgs
Larrson
Sobotka
Probably a few more
McCabe
Bogo
Risto
Nelson
Scandella |

So my evaluation would completely ignore the toughness, and look instead at who is good and who is bad.
Because you can have tough guys who are bad, and "soft" guys who are good. And I would rather have "soft" guys who still find a way to be good.
And for what its worth, I'm sure you wouldn't label either Vanek or Reinhart as a tough guy, but I bet you would change your mind if you had to put up with any of the abuse they put up with in the crease every single time they go there. Just because they don't come out swinging the lumber doens't mean they aren't tough enough to endure the abuse. |

I agree, I would say for example sake Lucic and Marchand are both tough but one is big one is small.
There are a lot of guys with size who dont seem to want to ever use it as well. |

They’re 2-5-1,
and were predicted to win around 7 or 8 games this year
Their DC should be fired too
Cleveland has been drafting A LOT of talent the past few years
They should be better |
