When players struggle they get demoted or benched. Not on the Flyers. They keep their positions. Voracek, Patrick, Lindblom and Simmonds should all be moved down a line until they smarten up |

What about the other players that have also been making mistakes? With that we won't have a 1st or 2nd line, we'll have lines 3,4,5 and 6.

You said that their poor pk should not primarily be blamed on the coach. I agree with that. I’m cool with holding the players equally accountable for the poor pk. I just don’t get how they can have all the pieces in place for a good pk and be so consistently bad at it for such a long time. |

The players listed are the ones struggling the worst. Promote the rest of them. If you were on a NHL team and Jori Lehtera was being played ahead of you, would that not alone be enough motivation to get your poop together?
Personally I would just beat the lot but in todays age that's "Unethical" |

I was just reading the Jets blog. Sounds like a lot of people are freaking out over him this year.
If that organization gets to the point where they have an ounce of doubt in Laine then Hextall should be all over them. Kid has an absolutely unreal shot. Just sounds like he's going through a case of the Voraceks. |

I would do that in a heartbeat. I'd honestly be willing to give up quite a bit for Liane if he were available. |

To be completely clear, I don't think the Flyers have a single defenseman who is capable of being a dominant player on the PK. In years past when the Flyers had a key PK in a key part of the game, they could send out Timonen and Pronger as a pair against a team's top PP unit in a D zone start. The Flyers don't have that.
With that being said, I think the players they do have are capable of being much better on the PK then they are but thinking and doing aren't the same thing obviously.
I went back and reviewed every single PP goal scored against the Flyers and in every one, there was a simple fundamental flaw that did them in. Sometimes you just have to give the opposition credit for skill and execution and goals are scored against you on the PK even if you do it right. I don't find that to be the case with the Flyers this season.
For example, one PP goal was scored against the Flyers in the NJ game. A veteran forward on the Flyers was responsible for the weak side back door and cross ice seam. That player, instead of having his stick in the passing lane, had his stick facing center ice out of the passing lane. That created a seam for a cross ice pass and a one time goal.
Now let's look at the 3 criteria so to speak.
Do I believe that player is capable of executing having his stick in the passing lane? I do think he is.
Do I think the Flyers PK scheme by design calls for sticks in the passing lanes? I do think it does.
Do I think the coaches have coached that sticks should be in the passing lane? I think they have and honestly, NHL coaches shouldn't have to waste time coaching a simple fundamental such as that. This is just one example.

By whose account? If I was on an NHL team and Jori Lehtera was playing anywhere but on the 4th line I would think we're going to lose the game.

No, but you never know. Would hardly be the 1st time a struggling kid with a high ceiling gets dealt. |

C'mon dude, seriously. I don't want to be rude but the kid is 20 years old and has already had seasons of 36 and 44 goals. They aren't going to look to trade him because he is off to a slow start in 12 games in his 3rd season. He doesn't have a high ceiling, he's already reached it.

Yes we would but would you rather lose 1 game and possibly get players to wake up or keep them on the same lines and lose 5-10 more games? |

I guess I see that as having a more detrimental effect than positive. This is a team wide issue, man to man. I have a hard time believing that move will turn it all around.

Like I plainly said, I don't think it's likely but anything can happen. Laine getting traded for a fair return would hardly be the strangest thing to happen in the league. |

Maybe Edmonton will offer McDavid for him. Anything can happen.
