Over the past two seasons they had similar PPG. If Eichel had Marner, Tavares, and Reilly feeding him on the PP he would have a lot more then 12 points in 12 games. Matthews is the goal scorer and that grabs all the headlines but Eichel is just as dangerous. The Sabres don't have any that threatens the other team other then Eichel and Skinner. Our entire PP runs through Eichel becuase nobody is threatened by anybody else on the ice.

He had a good first 7 games shooting at a 50% clip. The last 3 games he looked mortal and got hurt. Believe me I watch all 82 Leaf games every year living in the area. Matthews is the better player but you guys seriously undervalue Eichel. If Eichel was in Toronto right now hes easily top 5 in scoring.

but how can u possibly think Jack shouldn’t have covered JG there?

What exactly do u think Jack should’ve done once JG passed the puck across?

He had 2 choices at that point:
-not cover anyone (bc he wasn’t gonna get across to the other shooter)
-stay with JG & take him out, so there could be no return pass and could prevent him from getting a potential rebound

I’m baffled by u thinking Jack shouldn’t have covered JG there (AFTER he passed it)

The problem with the Sabres is that Sheary is invisible when not playing with Eichel. Mitts is struggling to adjust. 28 and 22 suck. Scandella is making Gorges look like a Norris candidate. Risto is playing too many minutes and its shown with his bonehead mistakes the last two games.

Everyone's biggest beef with Reinhart is his lack of effort. Yes, he caught fire the last half of last season, but the fans, the players, coaches, want that effort at least more than half the time.

There's a reason he got bumped off the first line; the same reason he only had 12:58 of ice-time tonight.

We both know that Eichel is more of a playmaker. I wish he was more selfish and shot the puck more cause his shot is very good. I wasn't disagreeing with you when you said Matthews is the better player. But its not like comparing Brady to Dalton thats forsure.
