There were a couple on here who said he'd be a injury riddled waste of a pick in the top 2. I see that for sure.

Yes I remember that, kid had some major groin issues and barely played his last year of junior. But again, he went where he was projected to go, just like Virtanen, Boeser, Juolevi, Pettersson and Hughes. All picked at or next to their projected spots.

I was one. I made a lot of $ betting that Nico would first way back in November. The odds were more than 2:1 lol

Condon on waivers . Let's see who the first dummy is to suggest we take his 2.4 x 2 contract

Juolevi: I think I'm ready to play in NHL whenever the call comes. I just need to keep playing & working hard on/off the ice. I'm just being patient and having while doing it.

You want someone else to take the heat for suggesting it so you threw this out to promote it.

I just listened to it. I say bring him up after xmas and ship someone out. Play him through the growing pains but he'll be fine I expect.

Not at all . I don't want him.

I just know every waiver someone suggests we should grab that player

I think keep him down until TDL . Make him really want it.

It also gives us a chance to see Hutton Guddy Stecher and Pouliot so we know what we have. I would really like to put the Edler Tanev days behind us if we can.

Luckily it worked out this time. I ultimately made the decision that Jersey would go for skill over the big ol Canadian boy. Flyers were running to the podium for Patrick lol. Heiskanen and EP are far superior prospects as is Makar. I (frank)ed up this draft though as I thought Boqvist would fall from the top 10. He did however fall all the way to 8 so I wasn’t too far off

He was picked where he was projected, sometimes they just don't get it right. Something Benning knows all to well. I've never been impressed by him.
- LeftCoaster

Pretty much. Many Scouts and GM's at the time said he could have went 1OA if he was playing in a higher profile NA junior league prior to being drafted.

Should have went higher than Makar for sure and technically EP is on a higher PPG pace than both Hischier and Patrick from that draft year. Could have easily gone higher.

Huge win for Benning.

Pettersson isn't a huge win for Benning, it's a huge win for the Canucks organization, Benning simply picked the kid ranked 5th and he happens to be pretty good.

I don't think Benning is as good at the draft as he gets credit for, he's picked the kids in or just around their projected spots in all five of his drafts.

So far two have been good, two have a lot to be desired and one is yet a mystery.

So not only did you predict that Nico would go number 1 in November, but also that Jersey and Philly would win the lotto......in November?
