...and you are what you are. I get it.

Exactly, I don't sensor you and your opinions. This team will get better, eventually, Benning got lucky, twice, and he won't be around when the team does get better because he's bad at his job.

But let's just enjoy Pettersson

I don't think Benning is as good at the draft as he gets credit for, he's picked the kids in or just around their projected spots in all five of his drafts.

So far two have been good, two have a lot to be desired and one is yet a mystery.

From now on, flagging any comment you make about any drafted Benning player.

So not only did you predict that Nico would go number 1 in November, but also that Jersey and Philly would win the lotto......in November?

- Whiskey-Tango

Lol good point. I made multiple bets on Bodog throughout the season. I did not predict the lottery balls

Patrick was a horrific pick from day one. I wouldn’t have touched him in the top 8. Typical big Canadian kid bias. Not to mention he is big kid made of glass
- CanuckDon

He will be a top 5 player in the draft as long as he stays relatively healhty.

I think EP was rated around 8 but they knew NYR would take him so they refused to trade down. I’d say Benning has been slightly above average at drafting. GMs don’t get too involved with the later picks. Benning does deserve credit for realizing our draft processes and scouting were broken and overhauling the process

He made a lot of changes to the scouting staff. How he wanted them to scout. Things to look for. He may not do the picking outside round 1 but he sure deserves credit for putting the people in place to do a better job.

Wasn't Benning afraid Vegas would take him if they moved back a spot? I think Brackett has been the biggest difference maker. Whatever the case, they were smart not to move back because someone identified Pettersson as very talented. I actually heard Delorme was his biggest fan and he pushed the most.

I had Boqvist at 7 or 8. Hughes at #4.
- boonerbuck

I had Hughes 2 or 3 . I read scouting reports and was hearing comments of comparisons to Orr . I did not think he would be available when we picked.

It was neat to hear that Nashville had EP number one on their list. Great job by their scouts!

None of us work for the team so I don't think anyone here deserves praise for decisions

Ya I was so focused on Dobson as I never thought Zadina or Hughes could fall that far. Fun draft!

Pettersson isn't a huge win for Benning, it's a huge win for the Canucks organization, Benning simply picked the kid ranked 5th and he happens to be pretty good.

I liked him as well. He would have been a very unpopular choice. Anybody that relies solely on stats hated Tkachuk

Yes good on them for putting a lot of emphasis on pure talent. I was happy with the pick, however it was made, because I'd been saying the team was so devoid of talent they badly needed a pure talent kid. They got one.

It was fun . Montreal and Ari took players out of need not the BPA . That changed everything.

lol I get it...

but dude Pettersson was projected at 9-10. Benning went off the board to get him.

Vilardi, Makar, Mittlestadt, Glass, Necas all projected higher.

Glass was the pick at 5 that many on here flipped out over missing on.

#Benningwins.

give the guy SOME credit bro.
