He played well, just took another weak stick infraction. Has to cut that out quick.
PP should've been killed off until the Flyers players ignored their PK coach and decided themselves to not put any pressure on Fowler while he got himself a free shot from 15 feet away. by one of their "top" PK forwards too - YuenglingJagr
I think they were spent. Pretty sure that is why Laughton tried to touch the puck even tho it would have been a high stick (or was it a hand pass, i can't recall) and faceoff in the D zone on the play where they got it out but didn't get it deep for the change. |

In under6 minutes of play, AK has 4 hits and a shot in goal? Dang, that’s actually very impressive. Good first game in the NHL 👍. Hopefully more to come. |

Gudas coming back to break up that break-away in the second period was huge. I'm thinking, here comes a hooking penalty (albeit would have been justified), but he comes through and breaks it up legally. Good stuff! Good win last night, I thought Elliott looked sharp.
Overall a much better (and needed) effort from them last night.
Now since they won I am only instituting a 35% daddy tax on all of my kids candy tonight. |

I was all for giving Weal a shot, and I still don't think the book is 100% closed on him.
But if he's not contributing offensively and is prone to taking penalties, I'd rather his minutes go to someone else. - jmatchett383
He's at least getting on the stat sheet for SOMETHING. Sheesh. |

What, you want to put faith and trust into a young player? Please, unless you're a slow-skating veteran, you're not given that opportunity. - jmatchett383
You're right. Provorov. Patrick, Lindblom and Gostisbehere were never given that opportunity.

Unless they want to move Giroux back to center, what other options do they have at 3C?

I was going to go with Lappariere instructed and coached the PK players to back up and give Fowler a clear passing and shooting lane to the net. Don't want to be rude to the host team.

As hard as it is for me to say this, he has actually been pretty consistently solid so far this season. - ajw12

Weal played a good game excluding the late penalty. He controlled the puck and he generated chances for Simmonds. I like his game except penalties. |

Flyers new look PP scores.. by end of the game Hakstol goes back to the OG unit. #HAKLOGIC....
My take on the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIuvYJ-6k1g - flyaz4life
The PP goal scored was a pass from Giroux on the half wall to Couturier in the slot. Other than actually scoring, what was different about that from the old look?

They don't have many options at 3C.

I watched the first period. I thought they looked pretty good overall. I was pleasantly surprised to see the final score when I checked this morning.
It's a building block. |

This is true, and it can only help the team if he is playing well.
Its about time. - MBFlyerfan
Yeah. Only took him 2 years to adjust to his new surroundings. If he keeps playing like that, we'll have to find a new whipping boy.

I get that. But, again, as important as the process is, it doesn't make a difference if you're not producing on the scoresheet. I know CF% and PDO, but he needs to be outputting tangible results.
And again, he played a good game " excluding the late penalty." Imagine if we had lost the game 3-2 on a weak goal, I don't think the mantra would "Elliott played a good game excluding the late goal," it would be more damning on Elliott blowing the game. |
