This is the weakest argument you could have provided. He is playing almost 20 minutes a night. He is a problem. And he doesn't play defense, he just sucks so much he gets stuck HAVING TO DEFEND, which is entirely different than playing defense.

To be fair, Girgensons and Larsson are starting on the order of 80% in the D-Zone.

They're still playing way too much, and Mittelstadt has been creating like crazy, he just hasn't cashed in except for the once.

I'm not gonna play the "what about x" game. Girgs and Larsson play a lot of minutes, continue to not score, pilot a mediocre penalty kill and can't be counted on to close out games. It's been going on for years, and at this point it's an actual choice. There are alternatives to playing them 17 mins a night. Good ones, too

The eye test is obviously subjective(as it seems some here happily have an axe to grind with those two). as some think they're a tire fire and others see them as part of our second most effective line.

We have an 18 & 19 year old playing top minutes, we have a very young core and we have a total of I think 10 new players & last time I looked we have a winning record. they are not an embarrassment on the ice for the most part, sure do they have some really poor games, yes, but this year at least we a have a goalie that can bail them out. Bottom line, enjoy the progress. This team is finally turning the corner...

You can pull a 12 game stretch and make assumptions if you want, but you're not going to get anywhere near a full picture. You can make guys look like Gretzky over 12 games, or you can make them look like Tanner Glass over the same period.

Matthews went 13 games without a goal once, and then in the same season he went 7 more, 20 games and no goals! He sucks!

Edit: And Jack hasn't gone on a 7 game tear with 15 points like he's done before. Looking at small sample sizes really skews the overall.

If I grabbed a "12 game" survey randomly from his career yes. But I'm taking this year only into account. 28 has played well.
