I just would rather trade him and get back something of value instead of giving a nice sized contract to a guy likely to decline. A guy that has for the most part been pretty meh in puck/transition skill. - flyer_nutter
I'd much rather see the Flyers take a run at signing Duchene this off season than resigning Simmonds. I like what Simmonds brings but they can use the cap space to bring in a player that makes more of an impact and creates plays.

Mine is Mike Richards.
FREE MIKE RICHARDS!!! - jmatchett383
I put so much blame on Stevens for letting that whole poon gang get away with the partying/booze in their early years. Lava came in trying to establish a bit more of a "pro" culture, but it seemed to be a bit too late.
I am going to be slightly giddy when John gets fired in LA. (frank) him.
Always wanted to see him try and make a comeback but I understand why he hasn't. The dude literally won all there is to win in hockey. 2 Cups, a gold medal, a calder cup, and a memorial cup. That's a crazy impressive hockey resume not too many guys ever even accomplish half of that list.

He played hard, and had fun off the ice. Made his millions and gets to sit back and enjoy it fishing whenever he wants.
Okay, so counting up all the goals in the last seven years, puck throwing puck into net, who has had the most? - SuperSchennBros
2017-18 Simmonds: 24 goals 46 Points - 11 of those goals are PP and 17 points are PP
So without PP time he has 13 Goals 29 points. Thats in the ball park of Fillpula 33 points and Raffl 22 points
2016-17 Simmonds: 31 G 54 P - 16 PPG 25 PPP - 15 Goals and 29 points at EVSTR
That was on par with a rookie Konecny with 10 less games played
2015-16 Simmonds: 32 G 60 P - 13 PPG 21 PPP - Thats 19 G 39 P at EVSTR.
Closest player is Raffl at 29 points(31 minus 2 PPP)
2014-15 Simmonds: 29 G 60 P 15 PPG 24 PPP - 14 G 36 points at EVSTR
On par with Matt Read 38 P(40 minus 2 PPP)
To summarize. Take away his PP Time and he is no better than a 3rd line player. He is basically Raffl with PP time and no concept of defense or puck possession

You forgot that he captained Canada to its first WJC gold medal in 8 years, its longest drought ever.

Good, we should be able to sign this useless 3rd liner for little money short term...right?

I'd go after Panarin. - jmatchett383
Panarin is a weird case. It seems like he is set on playing with a few number of teams. The same with W. Nylander, he could be super skilled, no guarantee he produces more for his demand and do you really want that type of player who holds out on the team?

It was a good trade (Danny Markov) that the Flyers messed up by not extending Markov.
If they don't have Markov, I doubt they'd have the defense required to beat Toronto, Primeau or no Primeau. Plus, let us never forget his slapper late in game 5 against New Jersey.
"Malakhov for Zhamnov...and Markov
I can't believe Bob Clarke allowed all those damn Ruskies on the team. - jmatchett383

Sergei Fedorov was a whining primadonna who held out. I'll take a team full of him, please.

oh (frank) forgot about that one. The guy won it all that's for sure. Sucks that his career ended so short, if he would've had a couple of more decent regular seasons he probably would have made it to the hall of fame.

Nah, HHOF was a long shot. He was very good, though.
Wayne Simmonds. Over his 7-year tenure here, the top 3 Flyers goal scorers are:
Simmonds - 180
Giroux - 164
Voracek - 136
Why do you ask? - jmatchett383
I think it's time to move on from all 3 of these guys. We haven't been past the 1st round in 6 years. We're a very average team to slightly above average team and I don't see it changing a lot either. Does anyone think that this team with G and Jake can win a cup? I could be wrong, but I don't.

It's all the coaching staffs fault that this core hasn't got past the first round. At least that's what I keep reading.

Yes. Over the course of 7 seasons, Wayne Simmonds has been their leading goal scorer. I haven't said otherwise.
However, his is not "our leading goal scorer every season."
Some seasons he is, some seasons he is not. - jmatchett383
I’m sorry if it wasn’t worded to your liking, giving you an opportunity to nitpick but this is all that matters. I mean, who has been the least healthy of Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds?
Everyone knows Zetterberg and Datsyuk were amazing for Detroit for years but they still needed Holstein to be a success.
