I think what fitz is trying to say is that E-rod doesn't do this. No combo right now does this. it's an inconsistent team, like most young teams. There will be stretches when they can take on anyone, and stretches like this. It is what it is.

speed can be learned . so can skill to an extent . Having skill to work on is a plus.

I brought this up Tuesday too but...
Sabres panic under pressure and turn the puck over while also not applying pressure the opposition. They actually take a few steps towards a puck carrier and then peel off to get in to a defensive position. Rarely finish checks, take stupid penalties. Lots of perimeter play. Would love to hear this stuff brought up to Housley in postgame. We're not even in terrible shape in the standings but this style of play isn't going to get us anywhere.
