I think their younger guys, their sruggling captain and their lack of ability to be able to defend is an issue. They seem to need an ass-kicker for a coach before they listen.

So Chatfield isn't the most ready right side defender in the AHL? He doesn't do the things well that are noted? Or is it that Gudbranson isn't one of the worst defenders currently playing in the NHL?

Their goal tending has been atrocious. Quick has the worst GAA and second worst S% of all the goalies in the league. Maybe his injury will actually be a benefit for the team.

On a positive note, you can see some changing of the guard, or at least the prospective of, coming now, which is exciting.

It takes such a long time to build a good backend just through drafting, you need a good ufa signing like Hamhuis to supplement the group you build. Unfortunately Gudbranson, not his fault Benning reached for him, didn't really work out, he's more of a third pairing guy.

Team needs an elite R side guy to replace Tanev in a couple years. Goody will be pushed down the depth chart soon enough.

None of those options.
Biega is still ahead of Chatfield, and I wouldn't say Gudbranson is struggling.
Typical, I hate Gudbranson , therefore, he is forever bad, comment.
