Only if they take Weber and Alzner as part of the package.
- Mashadar

I don't envision any scenario where they trade Weber any time soon.

Which is a mistake. And also, force MB to say he made a mistake.

So, what really needs to happen is for MB to be fired and bring in a GM to properly finish the rebuild.

Team is playing well, sure, but still lots of holes in the lineup.

Should we trade him while his value is high?

Definitely several holes remain. I just don't think Weber is one of the problems....whenever he returns.

My issue is long-term cap space.

Will they be able to get rid of his contract down the line... especially, if things go as planned, and all these young kids start looking for bigger contracts.

Shaw, Alzner, Weber... and I guess Price (but I can't see anyone trading him or trading for him w/ that contract) are problems better dealt with now than later, when they suck even more.

I suspect Alzner, at the very least, is a buy out next summer.

Habs have plenty of cap space available with all of these guys under contract.

And the cap is most likely going up with time.

It's not as big of a problem as you make it out to be.

Weber is and will remain a great defenseman for years to come. Same goes for Price as a goaltender.

Shaw and Alzner are mistakes and will be gone sooner or later.

We will see about Weber.

Not sure how well he fits in this fast mode team... that is where I am most concerned, TBH.

What up Grinch !

Nah I think we will need Weber, will help the PP and help putting people in their appropriate seats ( like Pete Favorite Petry!)

Rielly and Webber should fit great together

I think they will have to buy Alzner out, agreed. Isn't there something in Weber's contract that says the Habs aren't on the hook for all of the cap value?

He did look good during preseason.

Looking at Mete, sometimes I think he could benefit from spending time in the AHL. Then I think of how slow that defense corps is if you remove him.

If he retires early, Nashville pays the penalty. Habs are off the hook.

When that happens, likely cheaper for NSH to trade for him, break his leg and put him on LTIR.
