God you're a broken record. You couldn't sound any dumber if you tried. Quenville is far from perfect but he didn't run out of town or ruin half the players you say he did. smarten the (frank) up meat head. - GPHawksfan
Broken record maybe but you keep listing to it ,what's that say . Go talk to your hockey guy ,the one that lives in your head . Freak !! |

No - he's right - you're an idiot.
If you were a Hawks fan, you would remember the cavalcade of morons they had coaching this team before Quenneville, and when he's gone, you will be WISHING for the days he was here.
Changing a coach for the sake of change is not the way to go.
And if you had even an inkling of what hockey people think about him, you would stop writing these nonsensical posts.
There are no less than 20 teams in the NHL that would fire their coach and hire him on the spot. Believe it, don't believe it - it's the truth.
You really need to stop your b.s. - anyone here with any brains laughs at you every time you post it.

Why do you say it would be change for the sake of change? THe Hawks are playing the exact same hockey this year that got them embarrassed last year. Is that all on the players or do the coaches have any responsibility?
I’m sure there would be plenty of teams that would take Q. THat doesn’t mean he’s the best fit for this team right now.

Seems a bit rich. Wonder if/how it will impact Schmaltz’s situation. - DarthKane
I think he's a good player. He found the scoresheet plenty against us ... so did many others that game. Haha.
There are many comparable contracts for Schmaltz, but right now he needs a bounce back from a benching and play consistently. YG is a few years older than Schmaltz, but his production shouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities for Schmaltz to accomplish. |

Forsling was scratched tonight in the Hogs game versus Milwaukee. During the broadcast they didn't mention whether it was a healthy scratch or it was due to injury. Hope it's just a maintenance day but we'll see.
Highmore still injured. So are Schroeder and Dahlstrom.
Hogs won 3-2 in OT. Raddysh with 2 goals including the GWG on a one-timer from Ejdsell.
Both Raddysh and Gilbert were most noticeable on defense: physical and like to jump in the play. Raddysh is a decent QB on the backend. Carlsson remains steady; not flashy but reliable. Hillman not noticeable but in a good way.
Ejdsell was a non factor until OT when he had more ice to skate around 3-on-3.
Sikura had a solid game with a strong forecheck at ES and great patience playing the Kane role on the PP. He had a goal and assist (swore he also had an assist on the 2nd goal but the scorekeeper thought otherwise).
Broadhurst stands out as well but just don't see him making the NHL. Great AHL player, though. - AEL_Fox
Thanks for the update. Ejdsell needs to get his consistency down. Also, hope Forsling finds his way up here quick. I liked Radysh, I know his brother might be the better commodity, but wanted to know his ceiling in the nhl? Great that the d is doing well, hope that trend continues.
Shame about the injuries. |

Glad o see another response memtion how much your AHL trporte is appreciated. It will showing to be real interesting brhinni h next season when the not any longer totally green inexperienced kids on defense get an NHL tecsop ahead of the top choices such as Bowvist and Beaudin. It is quite likely there will be no rush to hey those top choices into the NHL.
I have to admit that I am pulling for Carlsson and Hillman . Both would fit well in a future Chicago blueline set. Their skating ability and sneaky able offensive contribution is a.nice plus for the team. The more skating speed/mobility and size grit toughness the better off the team will be. Next perhaps some Eager Burrish gritty forwards plus a descent size wing could be two type: Knott and Edjsell. Not sure how Highmore fits.Wondering if Samuelson could surprise |

Depending on how it's framed I would disagree about the Hawks prospect system. They're not A+ or top 10 but they're definitely improved quite a bit over the past 2-3 drafts. At least middle of the pack and trending upward. - AEL_Fox
Lacking potential top 6 talent as far as forward position. Defense is very deep bottom 6 forwards looking good if some pan out goaltending depth is better. Very weak at the center position. |

Would like to see him coach at least one more season AHL. Still relatively young head coach. No need to jump into ahot seat in Chicago until he has some young talent to work with - some which may prepare in Rockford

So you are listing to the voices in your head ,not good . The way you throw around personnel insults makes me believe you are just a child with a man crush on coach Q I am not sure and don't care . Oh I am a HAWKS fan with a long history ,and remember well the disasters of the past . I don't fear change as you seem to .If it a mistake well so be it that what sports is all about taking chances .
Years of a pathetic PP bad personnel management and a disconnect with the front office that most normal fans can see is evident is not change for the sake of change .More a change out of necessity .Oh and I have a very good idea of what people around the league think of him publicly ,and he deserves the accolades with three cup rings . No denying that point ,but do we live in the past forever .
20 teams would fire their coach and hire him ,sorry don't believe it .Maybe 1 or 2 maybe not even that this year . Don't even know if Q Has the fire in his belly to go coaching anymore ,big contract looks to have made him lazy
Oh I will not be stopping anytime soon ,sorry about your luck . I am sure I am not alone in my belief about Q .
They laugh at me because I am different ,I laugh at them because they are the same ..
I would tell you to go take some medicine also ,but really I think you need a shrink or maybe just a timeout lol
Have a nice day ..

19-47 last 66 vs Western Conference teams on the road
Power Play isn’t coaching it’s personnel-
Winnipeg has the best power play at 35% because you need size in front - puck retrieval tenacity & a shooter with a rifle like Laine - Hawks lack all three -
Who on the Hawks has a big shot?
Bottom line - Stan has failed the franchise in obtaining the pieces to stay competitive. |

Well with just a quick glance at the league stats that Washington has the best PP with Toronto right behind .Wash definitely big Toronto not so much . Seem the top 10 are fairly split with bigger teams and smaller equally able to score . As for big shots Seabrook DBC Kane come to mind .
Bottom line to me is Stan brings in players Q refuses to use them or at least in a correct manner . |

I agree about moving Q out. Not giving a Stan a pass on the roster, but Q could make scheme changes to help this team out. Like the WTF power play that has plagued this team for years. Same crap over and over. Enough. Still plenty of skill on this team. Its not deep, but we have enough skill to be good on the PP. |

Hawks were 16th in the league in 2009-2010 at 17.7%...what were they lacking then? |

The part that irritates me the most about these two signings, is what have they shown that is notably better than guys like Hillman, Dahlstrom, etc. Signing these two (especially for the money Manning got) just made a crowded situation more so.
I've been on the fence about Q for a while, as I don't see any significant changes, but I don't know who else would be much better. Right now (yes it is very convenient), I would say you move him out. I agree that there aren't many great pieces here aside from a select few.
With what you have seen now for the past three years, to continually push the same concept is silly. If you are giving up 5-6 (conservatively) odd man rushes per game, change something. "We need to be better in the puck area". You also need you d-men to work together and quit pinching when there is little to no upside to it. I know it would be less entertaining to watch, but teams have been competitive for years concentrating on D and pouncing on mistakes. - Chunk
This also irritates me as well. I really believe it comes down to, too many hockey players who are on the ice for the Blackhawks don't know how to play the game of hockey especially the dmen we have. I've seen defenseman time after time after time skating out of the zone without clear puck possession. In our defensive end we go to where the puck was not where the puck is going to be.
If i were coach for this group i would really dumb it down for the players, man to man, station to station, this year and last year's team always trying to hit the home run, just like the Cubs did this year. |

How common is it in the NHL to fire the GM but not the coach?
Last couple of years i do have to agree Stan has made some terrible moves. |

Still not on the fire-Q/trade-everyone-away-bus yet.
Couple rough games? Sure. But everyone on this board is so quick to the extremes.
Hawks win and you guys are ecstatic. They lose and you're calling for everyone's jobs.
Ease up on the sports generalities and clichés, too - Hank3Henshaw
Can’t believe you’re just noticing all this. Maybe we need to pass out a little lithium to even things out a bit. |

I think the main reason for the PP being so bad is Patrick Kane. Not Patrick Kane the player, who is the best player for the Hawks on the ice every time he steps on the ice, but Patrick Kane "the system". The PP is designed to start and end with Kane and consequently the other players stand around too much waiting for Kane to do something. Other teams have their "main player" on the PP too, but there is a lot more movement of all 5 players than what we see on the Hawks PP, which basically have all 5 players staying in their positions. Kane's a great player and I'm not blaming him, but the system is designed for Kane to trigger shots and that system is easier to defend than one that moves. |

"3) I was quite underwhelmed by Stan Bowman’s decisions this offseason. Let’s take a quick look at through 14 games, Ward (good – that signing made sense), Manning (not good), Kunitz (not good), Davidson (not good). Not looking good for Stan. "
There was also Kahun, whom I would say was a decent addition. Not spectacular, but not bad either.
I wonder how much the Manning and Davidson signings were driven by the injuries to Murphy and Forsling. Was Stan reluctant to make a bigger move knowing those guys would be back (eventually)?
I still think Stan needs to make some moves. Even if the Hawks were playing better some of the same moves would be required. In the near term, Forsling should replace one of Manning or Davidson and Sikura should replace Hayden or Martinsen. In the long term Murphy will replace either Manning or Davidson (whomever is left) and I think the Hawks still need another d-man. They also need to improve the bottom 6. Even though he was scratched I'd move Schmaltz back up to the top 6 and add (likely via trade) 2 bottom 6 forwards. - DarthKane l
Kahun has only goal in 14 games. This is actually worse than it sounds because he has been playing with Toews and Cat and getting lots of ice time. Kahun has been a lock there and shouldn’t have been. Saad on the other hand has been moved around like he is on fire. If there are a few words that describe Q it is unpredictable stubbornness.
For no reason, actually going against what seems logical, Q refuses to play Cat with Kane. Everyone agrees Panarin and Kane had chemistry and Cat is the closest player we have to Panarin. LW Right Shot, Great Shot, knows how to get open.
I have always wanted Saad on his off-wing RW. Better angles for shooting and penetrating the net. Put him as Toews’ RW and leave him there for a while. Finally put Cat as Kane’s LW and leave him there a while. Put Schmaltz as Toews’ RW completing a line, as Q does not seem to want him back at Centre. For now leave Anisimov as Kane’s Centre but look at moving someone else in at some point with more speed and stronger fore-check.

The reason the PP doesn’t work is personnel. How do you plan a PP and not have Cat and Kane on the ice together, or Toews and Kane, or Saad and Kane? Kane has nobody to pass to other than Seabs. Keith? Weak shot and can’t hit the net if he can even avoid the shin pads. Schmaltz? Please. Kunitz as the triggerman with his ZERO goals. It is freakin’ embarrassing and it must be making Kane crazy.
New PP - Kane, Toews, Seabs or Juki, Saad, Cat - leave it alone. STOP trying for freakin’ balance - there is enough left for 2nd PP. |
