..the big question, why is Thompson still in buffalo when he could have playing time in Rochester? - Michael Pachla
I see about 5 big questions
this is one of them |
|
|
|
Waiting for Wilson or Hunwick to come back maybe. Just guessing he doesn't want to call someone up to sit. - Lunaion
forgot about Wilson...they can send Thompson down anyway and leave an open spot...won't hurt as they'll still have elie as the extra forward...as for hunwick, I think he has a neck injury that is (was?) pretty serious...can't see him here anytime soon |

why isn't dahlin playing more
why isn't ullmark playing more
why is there too many blah players on the roster, make a move or 2 so pilut and olofsson can come up
why can't a certain poster admit special teams matter, it's literally on the short list to keys of the game from every freaking nhl games on tv |

from joe Yerdon, lines at practice today:
Skinner-Eichel-Pominville
Sheary-Mittelstadt-Reinhart
Berglund-Larsson-Girgensons
Rodrigues-Sobotka-Okposo
McCabe-Ristolainen
Scandella-Dahlin
Beaulieu-Nelson
e-rod in for elie...Thompson still out...the big question, why is Thompson still in buffalo when he could have playing time in Rochester? - Michael Pachla
with our dire need for secondary scoring, why aren't we seeing any of Olofsson, Nylander or Pilut being called up?!?! Its time to add some talent to this roster.

I believe they're choosing to let them develop further in Rochester...which, to me, isn't really a bad thing |

No idea why dahlin isnt playing more
Hutton really has played well and is a phil housley veteran
Keep the kids in Rochester, that's the formula. They are winning, we are not winning the cup this year
Special teams do matter. Who ever continues to argue, just won't admit they are wrong. (Probably ever)

with olofsson and pilut dominating in the ahl , shouldn't they be rewarded
if those 2 can perform right away in the nhl they would be serious upgrades for the middle of our roster and pp |

They could do that, but it would be pretty unusual to stay below 23 for any significant amount of time, without the cap forcing it.
No clue on Hunwick. Kind of curious though. The Sabres don't say much on injuries, and it isn't reliable when they do.

not really...olofsson's a pp specialist at this point and needs to learn 5v5 play...pilut came over as an offensive d-man and needs to learn defense against north American pros...
they're doing well, but they may want to see how those two react to an individual or team slump |

I agree that developing them slowly is ideal, however, Thompson could use some time down in the minors and the slow development of young talent is a luxury afforded to NHL teams that are playing pretty well.
For me, despite the fact that I am content with the Sabres current record and standing, the lack of any scoring not driven by Jack is becoming alarming. Feels like an easy fix to send Thompson down and pull Olofsson up. He has played well enough that he deserves a look. |

Mitts could either use better linemates or benefit from a stint in the AHL.. not sure which one at this point |

And we could use the powerplay help. Maybe Olofsson 4-on-3 against Calgary changes the complexion. Realistically he can't produce less 5-on-5 than anyone else on this team |

good points...but if Thompson goes down, they'll probably bring up a player like cj smith, who has 7 points (4+3) in 10 games and has already had a taste of the nhl |

The line last night about each rookie being worth 5 losses stuck with me. They have a young lineup and I think they're very risk averse.
I think they'd prefer getting them up for a few games when injuries dictate it, before making any real moves. |

He is improving... he has looked pretty good the last couple games. The kid is hitting a ton of posts, i would imagine luck would have to turn soon.... |
