Edler won’t waive. Thought this had been covered 7000 times.
- CanuckDon

Why do you say that? Edler said he would consider it if it was the right situation.

Edit: looked for quote. It was actually "I deal with that when it comes up".

So it still doesnt sound like a definite no. People are just assuming like they did with Kesler.

All i can add is Goldy must keep improving & be a 200’er to keep his spot. I prescribe to duos & the 3rd wheel & he is the 3rd wheel & replaceable. Take a page out of Burrows/Hansen’s book would be great.
- Nighthawk

Goldy is looking so out of place still even with his two assists. Pad his stats and trade him this season....

Edler is a liar, last year he said that he'd be open to waiving if they asked him to because he wouldn't want to stay if he wasn't wanted here
- Nucker101

That's the comment I remember but didnt find that quote. I saw him answer that in a short interview and thought maybe I remember wrong. Thanks.

Well my take is his job is precarious once other prospects get an opportunity as early as next season. He’s gifted on O but that’s not enough in TG’s books. The kid has to take it more seriously & learn what checking & hustling up & down the ice means if he wants to stick.

He has said it so many times. Rick D just mentioned it again a few days ago that Edler won’t waive. He is staying in Vancouver

Tbh i’m torn between seeing us compete all year or fade. On one side of the coin competing bodes well for the future & the teams confidence. On the other if we fall & can get more high picks that helps longterm.

It’s fast coming where we will be flush with prospects & the problem of where they all can play & develop.

- Nighthawk

That will never be a problem.

I believe Edler would listen if asked. Non committal but anything is possible.

It already is. Utica won’t start an all prospect roster & throw them to the wolves.
The ECHL is only for a few players not close to being NHLers. Leaving draftees in the CHL NCAA or Europe is the other option.

Competition for even the AHL TOI has gotten tighter.

How many AHL plugs have they signed? How many years do you want a prospect to play in the minors? How many draft picks do they get per year? How many of those picks sign a contract? How many of those players even make it to the AHL? If a Canuck draft pick/prospect can’t win a job from another prospect/AHL plug then they should be sent back to junior or walk away.

#Canucks prospect Quinn Hughes with 1G tonight for Michigan

He is now up to 7 PTS (3-4-7) in 7 NCAA games

Roster size is finite.
Utica owners don’t want a team of rookies.
No vets is suicide.
Not all are on NHL contracts.
NHL teams don’t sign every pick.
The vet AHL rule is in place for a reason.
Signed prospects play til they make it or are let go. Sink or Swim. A full roster of teenagers is not development.

He'll need 3 years in Utica first. Patience.

Which is exactly my point. Unless you are picking 20 players per year, you will only graduate 1 or 2 (3 if you are lucky) players per year to the AHL, and they won’t be teenagers.

The AHL has no roster size limit.

The following players have been inked to AHL deals by the Comets this offseason as of June 20th:

Carter Bancks (F) – (2-year deal)
Tanner MacMaster (F)
Cam Darcy (F)
Vincent Arseneau (F)
Dylan Blujus (D)
Jagger Dirk (D)
Jaime Sifers * Sifers signed a two-year AHL deal with the Comets last season and will be with the team again this season on the last year of that deal.

How many suit up is hard to say but their is not as many spots for lots of TOI as it appears. It’s why i believe JB likes NCAA or Euros more so they can develop in college or a mens league eg Sweden.
